Hysteria Huntress Prince |
Summary
A local smalltown arm's dealer, an honest troll just trying to make a living, had recently been the target of a Shadowrun to lift a crate of high-end Ares rifles he had acquired at great expense. The runners are hired to track down the thieves and retrieve the weapons.
Background
A local Seattle arms dealer, a legitimate illegitimate troll-owned business, is hit by shadowrunners hired by "Jaw", a rival located out in Puyallup's Crime Mall. A group of runners hit them early in the night, loaded a crate of rifles into their van, and made their escape.
The Meet
The runners make their way to Tacoma and meet Mr. Johnson, a large troll in a business suit, and his ork associates. He explains the situation and that he was robbed, one of his people ending up at the street doc in rough shape. He comes in with an agreement to pay them 12k each, and the runners talk him into access to weapons and ammunition to sweeten the deal.
The Plan
The runners investigate, finding some evidence and piecing together the stories of the guards with the help of a little mind magic to view their memories. They identify a woman they believe to be one of the runners, and a possible vampire, by examining the memories of the employees. The runners also find a few physical clues, such as the lingering traces of tailored pheromones.
They also discover that the exterior door was not forced, while the actual vault was broken into with a miniwelder. A bit of social engineering gets them access to the surveillance footage of the McHughes across the street, where they are able to find footage of the enemy runner team making the hit. They successfully identify the opposition's vehicle and the three runners. Huntress is able to recognize a textbook UCAS Marine Corp hand to hand takedown from the enemy sam.
A visit to the guard who was at the street doc's reveal his memories have been magically altered, and Hysteria is able to sniff out the signature and begin tracking.
The Run
The runners trace the astral signature to the Crime Mall in Puyallup, but are unable to hone in any further. They enter the Crime Mall and begin scouting it out. After some legwork they are able to narrow down to a pair of arms dealers, only one of which trading in the kinds of weapons that were stolen.
The group enter the shop and are confronted with fairly sturdy security. Pop-out turrets, a couple of guards and a solid barrier protecting the shopkeeper. The group decides to avoid a confrontation, instead opting to attempt a social con. Using a mix of magic and gaslighting and a clever bit of palming they're able to convince the dealer that his stock is hot and that he needs to drop it as fast as possible. After a bit of negotiation they leave with the crate.
Aftermath
The J gets his goods back and is raided by the cops a few weeks later, going down in a hail of gunfire when he reaches for his credstick to offer the officers their bribe. The officer who shot him swears he had a gun.

Player After Action Reports (AARs)
===Huntress=== "Captain, as you can tell the run was a success. Though the nature of one of my teammates was brought up to concern we managed to succeed in our objective. A simple finding of stolen assets from a local arms dealer and returning it to them. Specifically a shipment of Ares Alpha's. Though the legwork was... difficult the other runners were able together to figure out the goods were taken towards the Krime Mall in Puyallup thanks to the efforts of a team of runners. While inside we managed to find the dealer, and came up with a quick solution. Plant a datatap on one of the weapons and indicate the batch provided was tampered. Though tricky, with the aid of our caster and... the effects of mind magic as sad as it is to say, we were able to convince the dealer of our ruse. Though we were able to convince the dealer to let the other team of runners to keep their pay. Regardless, it was a success sir. That is all to report."
