Character Information

Summary

Annette is a pariah null mage who looks like an insect spirit (moth). She, contrary to what many may think, has made a close friend of a (now free) ally spirit of her late mother's. The two of them do just about everything together, although an untrained ear might mistake the constant banter between the two as legitimate vitriol as they make fun of each other for just about everything about one another.

Annette is deeply caring about the people around her... unless they happen to be specific kinds of mages, to which they are treated with indifference. Although, when she gets the chance, a sadistic side of her can be seen to enjoy inflicting pain on those who she's "allowed to".

Goals

- Find her father, who left before she was born.

- Find a way to return Iyaki to meta-human.

- Protect others from the abuse of magic.

Background

- Childhood: Annette, as a girl, was raised by her single mother, of whom was a full magician. Though, unlike her, she deeply loved magic. Reaching further and further for more and more, her mother's craving for knowledge and her hubris eventually brought about her downfall. Iyaki, her mother's free spirit, now free, took pity on Annette and was something of a big sister to her while growing up. Having taken over in her mother's place. Though, the two of them deeply struggled to make it since they both appeared in one way or another as spirits. This mainly manifested in Iyaki having to constantly protect Annette from the onslaught of individuals looking to kill her in the aftermath of the war against the insect spirits.

- Growing up: Iyaki and Annette moved around a lot when she was a kid. From avoiding people trying to hurt Annette, to simply getting into trouble, the two of them grew up together causing problems for just about everyone. Though, when Annette was 13, Iyaki began to teach her about the importance of restraint, and showing her the dangers of magic. Showing her what her mother actually did, but only ever alluded to where she came from. They mainly played it safe, and either did smaller runs or fended off organized efforts to hunt down the "local insect". Jobs looked like keeping people safe from wiz-gangers in Western Europe during her time moving around. Moving more and more, Iyaki's teachings began to solidify as the runs they went on got more and more intense. Showing more of the ugly side of the world to her as she continued to grow and change. Though, moving through the warring area brought her a lot of resolve that she would need later.

- Adult Life: Annette and Iyaki finally landed on a spot to stay for a while in Seattle after escaping europe, lots of running opportunities, and a couple of new faces and friends made it easy to stay in one place. Here, she began to learn and move out on her own. Finding more and more out about who she was and trying to branch out to find new avenues, though ultimately landing back into the hands of running. This is around the time she found found out about the Shadowhaven, she began doing runs to gain access and began to drift away slightly from Iyaki.

- Ryakii Ito, Annette's Mother: A powerful mage, well connected shadow runner, and over all else; absolutely obsessed with the continued pursuit of more and more magic. Her mother was a high roller within the Vory at the time, and despite her Japanese heritage, she ended up participating in the White and Red Vory war in Russia.
