Summary

The group of runners are hired to find and do some bounty hunting in Madagascar and they turn the situation into a pit fight.

Background

The target, a Wakayambi named Ingwe, has hunted a lion that was under the protection of the Great Feathered Serpent Mujaji. For this indiscretion, Ingwe received a bounty that Bellerophon was all too happy to take up. Hiring a group of runners is cheap compared to the payout and allows him to assume almost no risk.

The Meet

Contacted in the midst of their day to day activities (purchasing squirrel figurines, arguing over the price of fish, eating ramen in a plastic jungle apartment, and having dinner with a girlfriend), the runners are asked to meet Bellerophon the following day. Aboard the Pegasus the bounty hunter describes the job and the target, filling in details about why they are wanted and by whom. He also describes another opportunity for making money in the capture of a specific chupacabra, the infamous Jicho Moja, identifiable by it's iridescent scales and a scare over it's eye.

The main target is stated to be hiding with the Isangoma, a Zulu Pirate gang with a base in Manajaray. It is suggested that the runners might get themselves captured and break out with the target in hand. Bellerophon also requests that this be treated with care and not to inflict too many casualties.

The hire comes with transport and so the group sets out for Madagascar in a dirigible, after Poe procures K-10 for Cyrrel, completing one of the squirrel's life goals.

A Boat for Hire

Disembarking in Fort-Dauphin, the runners decide to rent a boat and take it up the coast to Manajaray. Fennec gets in touch with [The Golden Hind] to get some info and the opportunity for an introduction of sorts. All that is asked in return is a jade lemur the pirates possess.

Looking to gather some info, Poe sends a possessed rat into the compound. The spirit is able to relay some map info and personnel estimates. Finally a plan starts to come together.

The Lion, the Techno, and the Boat

Out side the bay by the compound the runners get the pirate's attention by waving to them. When they come aboard, Fennec shows off her wares: a Lion, a chimp with a gun, and a squirrel person. These, she says, are rare fighting animals. For the time being the pirates go along and invite them ashore. The pirates take them through the mined bay and then give a brief tour of the compound where they show off the jade statue that Fennec was asked to liberate.

Pokemon Battle

Fennec makes a challenge. She puts her three 'fighters' against any five the pirates choose. To the winner go the Jade Idol and Fennec's laser pistol. A bit of negotiation later and the deal is accepted. The trio finds themselves up against a Troll, a Razor girl, a metal tusked boar, a possessed pirate and Jicho Moja.

The razor girl and boar are dropped fairly quickly, and Fennec encourages her team to put on something of a show. To that end, Cyrrel doffs his helmet and bites the troll, injecting his venom. ChimPoe runs up a wall and shoots the possessed man. Elaine decides to eat the boar. The three fighters then dog pile the chupacabra, during which time Poe creates an illusion that he eats the critter while simultaneously turning it invisible allowing him to hide it.

Fennec uses the distraction to bop Ingwe with zombie dust, attempting to pass it off as a whoopsie with her coke. However, the con doesn't quite go over and she's pressured into doing some coke, which would cause her to overdose. Luckily she's able to put it off until just after the fight when Poe can detox her.

Party Time, Exit

After the fight a raucous party takes shape. For some time, the runners take part in the revelry, but eventually it's time to get out of there. Fennec is able to corral Cyrrel and keep him from wandering off and guiding him to the beach. Meanwhile Poe sneaks out under concealment and Elaine simply leaves. She is a Lion afterall.

They return to the boat. Poe is able to navigate the mines with Fennec's help and they make their way back to Fort-Dauphin with a possessed target and a chupacabra. Somehow they managed to do a good job and Bellerophon is pleased.

Narrative Consequences

• The Isangoma's fortress at Manajaray is successfully infiltrated by the runners, who manage to extract their target from the pirate's custody and escape their clutches; Ingwe is subsequently taken to face Mujaji's judgement, against the protests of the Zulu nation.
• The purple-scaled chupacabra "Jicho Moja" is successfully captured alive and delivered to Bellerophon.
