Summary
A relatively simple run, with worrying implications for a nighttime fixer. While the run was a successful retrieval of a stolen shipment, it means there's more that needs to be done before this matter can be considered resolved.
Background
The Night Hunters are incredibly bigoted, violent, and in the fixer Hellsing's case, a pain in the ass personally. For months the two groups - the gang and Hellsing's little personal network - have been butting heads and interfering with each other's operations. Hellsing has been able to keep things mostly moved around the ones who hate HER business in particular, the night hunters who use "soul sucker threat" to justify their work and target her business for it. But a new group suddenly struck a shipment of medical supplies - and blood bags - when she wasn't expecting it. Someone new. Someone she needed investigated, once she had her shipment back and moving.
The Meet
Hellsing invited some relative unknowns - Epsilon, Obumbrata, and Meretseger - to investigate the matter for her. According to footage, she identified the group as likely being part of some small-time gang called the Rovers, though she didn't explain why she was suspicious and thought they were involved with possibly the Night Hunters. Too early. For the three, the job was simple - research the group, find the shipment, and get it back. If there was more, they'd probably stumble upon it over the run. She offered 4k for the job being done, and another 2k if they didn't ruin the delivery van she was loaning them for the job.
The Plan
Planning wasn't exactly critical here. Besides doing some background research and finding the hideout, the main plan of attack was simple: Let Meretseger do reconnaissance, find a good way in, confirm what was going on, and with the three of them burst in and make off with the goods. Easy money!
The Run
As for part 1? Simple enough: Meretseger snuck past the drones that were monitoring the bar and building that the Rovers seemed to be using for their hideout, and found a way in from the rooftops, hearing some strange noises from above. The others found a better way in from scaling from a distance, and just in time, because the SURGEd sam snuck in further and heard the kind of abusive, metaracist drek that would set anyone off and especially them. So as the others were coming onto the roof and getting ready, Meretseger snuck into a dark and empty office. Two of the Rovers were beating some well-to-do looking elf who was tied up and bleeding. Obumbrata caught up as fast as he could, with Epsilon behind, as Meretseger pounced. Epsilon discharged her shotgun in the fight, and they alerted the Roer remaining on security.
They barely had time to free the elf before they were beset upon by drones. Epsilon took the front and the brunt of punishment, with Obumbrata and Meretseger supporting from the back. They fought through well, forcing the rigger to retreat, and with an elf and one remaining unconscious rover alive. They forced the Rover up and interrogated him, got the location of the shipment and the security room, and killed him before breaking in. The Elf seemed uninvolved, so he was free to go, and they booked it before things got too hot with HTR.
Obumbrata noticed there was a bit of damage on the locks of the crates they were bringing in, and with a bit of curiosity of his own decided to do a bit of psychometry to figure things out. There were visions of pride from the three gangers of failure to break in, or perhaps a lack of care. A desire to rise up in the ranks, it seems. But beyond that, he noticed a grouping of people. He smelled blood, and iron. He saw figures standing over it. There were many things to consider, but a lack of answers.
Aftermath
The three brought the goods over to Hellsing swiftly, and without incident. They warned her that there was likely someone higher than the Rovers that they were looking to impress. Obumbrata tried to get a look at Hellsing's coat, but failed and got a firm but quiet warning not to overreach.
