Character Information
Summary
A Nartaki Cyberadept and runaway from Ares. Spend years as a Black Project Scientist, then as a resource to be used. Comes off as nihilistic to hide her guilt and pain of her crimes. Only her sol goal to find her brother keeps her marching forward.
Her time in Ares as a experiment subject has left her body in an atrophied state.
Goals
Find Her Brother: One of the Only Definitive Memories Epsilon still has before working with Ares was having her brother torn from her arms. She doesn't know if he's even alive or anything about his fate. She will find out.
Re-kindle her relationship with the Resonance: Ares tried to kill her connection to the Resonance, but in a stroke of luck she maintained her connection. With her attunement to "the spirit of metal" manifesting in her new stream, she sets out to regain what is lost.
Atone: Much was done in at Ares. Epsilon doesn't even know what atonement would even look like. But she will be on the lookout for that chance. She's willing to do much, and if her other goals are completed, even her death is not too much of a price to pay.
Restore her physical body: Epsilon lost most of her physical skills after her years as a test experiment. She used to be perfectly ambidextrous with a healthy physical body. Now she is atrophied and is less comfortable using her meat arms--which she REFUSES to have cybered for an so far unrevealed reason. To achieve her other goals, she may have to return to her physical shape.
Background
Aadhya Das was born from peasants as Indian immigrants to Louisiana. As Nartakis they never really fit in CAS and were seen as freaks. But Aadhya did her best for her family and her little brother, Arjun.
Many days it was not enough, and at the age of 15, Aadhya's parents were killed in a gang related crime.
Aadhya and Arjun survived in the scrapyards, where Aadhya made a living--or what it could be called as such-- finding diamonds in the rough, cyberware most would consider useless junk, but still had some life left in them. She could...fell the energy in the cyber, something she describes as the spirit residing in the metal. It was a gift, and a gift that allowed Aadhya some degree of comfort. She was poor, but she was taking care of her remaining family...and she was happy.
Alas the Sixth World would not even let her have that.
Word reached interested parties. Unbeknownst to her, Aadhya had a gift: Technomancy. Ares offered her money and power...she refused, and when refused they resorted to force. Aadhya was torn away from her life, everything she knew, and most importantly...her brother. She was given an ultimatum...work and her brother would be taken care of.
Aadhya had no choice. She worked on cyberware and technology related jobs for Ares. Black Projects. War Crimes. Unspeakable horrors and tests done to innocent or desperate people. It was too much, and eventually only a shell remained.
Ares decided that her use had run its course. They crammed her full of low quality cyberware...a final insult given her years of service, hoping to quash her connection to the resonance, but they were too cheap, and in a stroke of luck, she barely maintained her grasp. They decided to use her skills until she wasted away. Drugging her and moving her to different sites as a source of processing power. But they grew complacent. She had grown a tolerance to the drugs used to sedate her, and one day, a last gasp of life. She cracked the maglocks, tore free from her restraints. And escaped. She made her way west to Seattle, where she was picked up by someone who...understood somewhat her plight.
Aadhya had no reason to live....save for one. Her brother was either still with Ares or had long been abandoned. She will learn his fate. And if he lives...she will not fail to protect him again.
Narrative Significant Qualities
Positive
Ambidextrous: Epsilon is used to using both of her cyberarms. She used to be proficient in all of her arms, but atrophy has caused her meat arms to feel heavy and cumbersone. Hopefully she can get their use back soon.
Biocompatibility (Cyberware): When Ares stuffed Epsilon full of cyber, they used just enough to cut off her connection to the resonance....unfortunately for them, her attunment to the spirits of metal worked both ways--cyber clung to her soul easier than most.
Drug Tolerant: After years of being sedated and drugged for easy transport, Epsilon has developed a drug tolerance, a good thing as her current body has atrophied, leaving her normally weak to such things.
Black Market Pipeline: Epsilon's protector, an engineer and runner once called Delta, now a cyberware and weapons supplier by the name of Fang, did what she could to provide her repairs and maintence on her cyber to standup straight, but most of her gear is second-hand for now. Delta has promised to help her provide more cyber at a discount.
Negative
Addiction (Mild) Kamikaze: Epsilon took Kamikaze to escape, and she has been addicted since. Her frail body makes her weak to such drugs
Big Regret (Ares Black Site Projects): If confronted with her past as a Black Site Researcher by someone who knows, Epsilon attempts to hide her shame with the same deflections shes heard time and time again, but the scars...show
Driven (Find her brother): Epsilon deserves death for what she's done. There's no doubt. But she...can't let it end yet....she has to learned what happened to him.
Ares Target (Wanted, Records on File): Ares wants their pet back, either for more "work" and/or to make sure their secrets don't leak out. For now, they're willing to pay 25000
