Summary

The team visited the garden of the world tree, called by one who tended it. From there they were sent to find traces of pestilence and in the world of data and ended up fighting those who spread dissonance, blow for blow missing each other. Like a hound the team tracked them down from the matrix to the physical, culminating in a battle against many drones fought in the world of knowledge and world of material at once. Ultimately when their rotten hearts were exposed they surrendered, save for one last punch in the name of corruption. From there they were struck them down and brought to the gardeners.

Background

The world's gardeners in their pursuit of dissonance have detected a cell raising in power in the Seattle area and are seeking a team to trim the loose branches. The foe, a strange grouping of Dissonance technomancers joined under the banner of "Noise" the paragon of signal and code defilement.

The Meet

The team was sent the address to a host most peculiar, one that flickered in and out of existence. Requesting entry they were granted it and an audience with the gardener, our client, who spoke of fools tainting and stunting the growth of the world tree, granting us our initial information in the form of digital apples which upon consumption revealed to us a tainted host from which to begin our trail and also it booted us out of the host.

The Plan

To go in and track down the taint, tracing the signal of the techno or their sprites to their physical location.

The Run

The team focused on a few images from the images granted by the information fruit and located one of the hosts, a stuffer shack location in Renton. Perdix scouted the location with a drone while E-Mad entered the host remotely. The physical location seemed fairly normal other than some "technical difficulties" causing delays in service. The host was another matter, the sculpting of the host was completely twisted, bodies of animal hung from the celling and littering the floor, blood everywhere, strange iconography scattered about the place and disturbing messages concealed within the code. "The future belongs to the electrons. We are dust in their wake, the futre, the past, the present, the eternity is a faxcimily of perception, to infitile to comprehend. Changes are blinks to the world, washing the tears from its eyes and wiping them clean. None will know when the cycle swings in out direction." Raving madness left by Breecher one of the Dissonants. The crew managed to read some residual signatures left behind in the host and began to search the web for similar signatures, meanwhile Perdix performed some investigations into the data recovered, hoping to narrow down information on the individual causing this corruption.

Perdix discovered that the iconography matched that of the Nytemares, a group of dissonance, generally through to be "benign" in nature. Further digging however showed that these icons seemed wrong, possibly forged. Additionally Perdix tracked down the possible identification of one of the dissonance, "8r33c43r" an ex military spec ops techy, recently seen trolling around with "6u/N5ig47" a military colleague and "Gli7chS3c" an ex runner. The 3 apparently slipping into dissonance and for some unknown reason joining forces to cause chaos. Shortly after uncovering information about Breecher, and notes of "Gunsight" the emerged side of the team located a host with a recent resonance signature matching the suspects.

Entering the host, the discovered a host, partially corrputed, with a recently formed dissonance pool within it. They quickly managed to locate one of the hostile technomancers and engaged in combat with him. Perdix managed to trace a location while the E-mad kept them busy in the matrix and epsilon began to converge on the physical location. The crew fled the host quickly before sustaining much damage and converged quickly on the physical location.

Upon reaching the place the team found and fought two drone swarms and a steel lynx managed by Gunsight while the other 2 dissonants and their swarms of sprites engaged the team on the matrix. with the Perdix fell victim to a vicious LOTO attack and dumped out of the matrix, E-Mad getting their rotodrone shut down and Epsilon eating a spicy salsa frag grenade trap to the face. Ultimately, the team was able to push through to the meat puppets and capture the dissoants before they were able to engage the team physically. As a final act of dissonant rage, their leader, "GlitchSec" attempted to infect Epsilon with Dysphoria, a virulent biotech virus. Was he successful? Only time will tell.

Aftermath

Once subdued, they were brought to the gardeners for delivery.

E-Mad

This dissonace... where does it come from, why does it exist, what causes people to follow it... the ones we fought were drekheads, but were they dissonant because they were drekheads, or drekheads because they were dissonant... Nevertheless they were causing harm to the world tree and this could not be accepted. I was perhaps a little paranoid when I refused to read that text... the corrupted hosts were truly revolting.

Perdix

This was a good job! I mean ... it was kinda close at the end there. The virtual kinetic shutting me off the matrix was ... I mean I felt really powerless. However, then I went in to help the team in person and I did! I mean ... I kind of got shot ... but it didn't stop me! And I spotted one of the hidden virtual kinetics, I shot them. I handled the matrix really well, too. I traced the icon, stayed hidden, ran so many searches for the team. I really envy virtual kinetics, sometimes, being able to see the hidden parts of the matrix is a real gift. That's why I asked the old man to send me a sprite that I could study! This is going to be really insightful, I can't wait!

E-mad was really nice to me, too.

Epsilon

I need to thank Fang. Had it not been for her improvements and a little luck, that grenade would've ripped me in two. I should be more careful. Lessons that luckily I am alive to learn. Submersion...once more into the endless void. Will I learn anything new about myself, or will I be trapped in the same mistakes...
