Goals

- Am I Ha-neul? Am I just stealing her memories? Her identity? What should do with my answer when I finally get it.

- The mission's not over yet. I need to find what happened that day. Ha-neul never let the job go unfinished. I won't either.

- The programming, it's ruining Ha-neul's mind. I need to recover as much as possible. I..don't want her to just atrophy away like this.

- Major Nae's skills were shunted by my programming. I still have memories of learning skills I cannot replicate anymore. Martial Arts, engineering. Piloting. Social Graces. I should relearn them

Background

Nae Ha-neul was born in Seoul, Korea. Raised in a Military Family. A career in the armed forces was all but guaranteed. Graduated from The Korea Military Academy and served in the ROK's Mechanized Infantry for 5 years, reaching the rank of 소령 (Major). She was the leader of 왜 squadron of the 6th ATA Company with the designation of 'Heron 1'

Her Service in the ROK attracted some attention in Korea's Special Forces: Anti-Japanese sentiment had grown in Korea's government and miltary, and Korea was in search of highly skilled operators that could be utilize in their counter-terrorism campaigns. And thus the 707 White Tigers offered her a career change. To serve in the the premier counter-terrorism unit of Korea. And her designation became her new callsign.

Her Service with the 707 lasted another 5 years. Serving first in the All-Female Guard Company, and then the Assault Company. Her general charisma and straight-temperment in a world where military men play politics caused her to gain many fans at home, bolstered of course by nationalistic propaganda. Unfortunately her time with the 707 came to an abrupt end.

The mission, the details, and parties involved are all heavily redacted, the only thing that's known is Major Nae returned to Seoul comatose: full brain activity, but her body--what was left of it, was non-functional. With no way to restore funcionality to her body, her life seemed over....until Ares came with an offer.

Cyborgs, an enticing option for any megacorporation who could crack the secret. And Ares was sparing no expense in exploring every possible option. Their research AND marketing teams went to work. They assured the people that this was the only way to save Major Nae, that such a patriot deserved a better end then being comatose in a hospital bed for the rest of her life. They also wanted a cyborg with tier 1 operator-level experience as a comparison against the normal young brains trained on simulations.

And thus Major Nae was given a second chance at life--if you can call this life, and the shell you see before you Major Nae. They mostly kept to her original appearance--only a minor "lift" to appeal to the younger demographic. The Cyberization process left her with amnesia--induced to keep her subservient and prevent rejection--but it caused her to have gaps in her relevant experience. Skills she had developed naturally were lost or diminished and had to be supplemented with skillsofts. But it worked. And with that Heron was ready to serve.

Her service went well--until other event changed her life again--out on patrol, she encounter <REDACTED> which resulted in <REDACTED>. Afterwards she was labeled unfit for duty due to <REDACTED>

Her life on the front line in service to Korea's Military was over. And her home life was shattered as well. Family, Friends, Relationships. For one reason or another, she was abandoned by all. She had nothing, nowhere to go, and no one to stand by her,

But perhaps Heron WAS Major Nae in the end, because even that wasn't enough to end her story. When the engineers stripped her of most of her combat ware and skill softs, she had learned how they programmed her tracking software. And once she learned of the software's design, she cobbled together a way to crack it. It didn't have to hold, just had to hold long enough so that when the Korean government sent her to live out her days in company housing, she snuck out, and contacted the Korean Shadowrunning scene. Korea was too hot to stay, but the runners there decided to send her to a random shadowrunning hotspot, where they could get rid of her tracking software, and give her a fresh start, in return for service. And out of the proverbial hat, came Seattle and the Shadow Haven.

Narrative Significant Qualities

Positive

Subtle Pilot (Walker): Major Nae was skilled at piloted her All-Terrain Rapid Assault Vehicle. An IFV with walker capabilties for truly hostile terrain. Since these walkers were sometimes used behind enemy lines, Major Nae was skilled in minimizing the silhouette of her Walker Vehicle. A skill that had surprising carry-over to her new Cyborg Shell.

Support Gunner: Squad Automatic Weapons were Major Nae's Bread and Butter. From supporting disembarking Infantry, to operating Heavy Machine guns as a small mobile Cyborg Platform.

Negative

Code Of Honor (Soldier's Code): As a career Military Woman and a CO. Major Nae had a strict code of ethics that she followed to the end. Heron in an attempt to honor her determination, has continued that Code.

Prejudiced(Specific, Outspoken)(Japanese nationalism and Megacorporations): Captain Nae lived after Korea's Unification, where Japan would gallivant around the coast and make ostentatious displays towards the Korean people for one goal in mind: To show that it was Japan who was in control. Recently, tensions have spiked as Korean's current government has taken a hard anti-Japanese stance. Major Nae was an outspoken dissident of Japan's constant meddling of Korea's affairs. And she dislikes people who display nationalistic tendencies towards Japan's government and megacorporations. NOTE: Being of Japanese descent does not elicit a response-- Heron would hate a non-Japanese person supporting Japanese expansionism or imperialism over a person of Japanese descent living in Seattle just trying to make ends meet.

Flashbacks I: After her experience with <REDACTED>, Heron freezes up when encountering snake tattoos. She sometimes gets tunnel-vision and temporary glitches when a Mitsuhama advertisement plays in her presence. Memories are trying to surface, and half-forgotten dreams sometimes reboot to clear errors when she sleeps: this can cause her to bolt upright and do something a bit like a non-cyborg might sleepwalk. She remembers the sharp reboot and the odd image, but can never quite remember the dreams themselves... Updates can be followed in Daughter of the Sun.
