Unfortunately the run was not possible to complete. An alternative endig has been added with an easy way to make the target 'not dead' in case the opportunity arises to continue the run. |
Summary
Wetwork in Vladivostok to set things right. An old man tasks the runners with erasing an evil person so that he can finally move on and rest in peace. Things do not go quite as expected and before the runners get a chance to kill the target, the target is rumored to have died of old age. The runners seize the opportunity and report back to Johnson that they poisoned the bastard and claim their rewards.
Background
The grown-up son of a very old rich man reaches out to the runners offering a job which seems like wet-work on the old man's behalf.
The Meet
The son greets the runners and treats them well. He is concerned about his father's extreme dedication to have an old acquaintance with lots of bad blod on his fingers erased.
The concern is not so much about the act, as about his fathers obsession.
When the runners meet the old man, an interesting and charming bed-bound character who looks older than anyone they have ever before seen, they realize that this man is obsessed with vengeance. It is possible that this is the force that has kept him alive for so many years.
The old man convinces the runners that the target, also very old, is an entirely bad person who needs to be erased. He Jonson wants this done in order to being able to leave this world and go on to afterlife without leaving the target in it. He is seemingly willing to offer any sum and resources to get the job done.
The son of Mr. Johnson, who is more realistic about market prices for this type of work, takes over negotiations and offers a more normal reward which the runners accept.
The Plan
The team hides out in a safe-house in Vladivostok and researches the premises and habits of the target. It seems like there is a tunnel to the building, but they cannot find an entrance point. However, said tunnel is assumed to be a good exit strategy.
The main physical connection to the outside world seems to be regular deliveries from a Chinese restaurant. One of the runners seeks contact with the restaurant with the plan to infiltrate the restaurant or organization in order to gain more knowledge and possible get the job as delivery person.
The Run
While the team is preparing for the run and finalizing the plans, how to enter the premises and finish the job, rumors start popping-up that the target has dies of old age. The runners add some spices to the rumor and engage connections to spread the rumor that what really happened is that the target was poisoned.
Aftermath
Hoping that the rumors of a poisonous assassination reaches Johnson before they get back to Seattle, the runners return to Johnson who has heard of the rumors and is willing to pay the reward. He is not perfectly at ease, because of the missing video evidence of the completion of the work but does not pry upon the topic because he knows he never asked for any such evidence when engaging the runners.
Rewards
Thematics, AuroraSkye, has informed that all runners of this run are to be awarded: "Please take 20 RVP worth of karma or nuyen + 2 CDP. You can buy a Barret if you desire. If there's other requests ping me here and I'll get back to you asap."
Game Quotes
Player After Action Reports (AARs)
Thunder Was it right to claim the reward based on a rumor? Well, we did our part of the job and the entrepreneurial risk of the target dying before we get to kill him shouldn't have to be hedged by us wet-workers, right? I just hope this hoax isn't gonna come back to haunt us in the future.
