Summary

A corpse cadavre appears at Johan Liebert and Otsdarva's office. Unsure of how to get them to go away, they call in some runners to try and deal with the undead intruder.

Background

A corpse cadavre without much memory appears at Johan's office, and they start babbling about their school trip and friends. Johan, ever indignant and socially anxious man, is unsure how to get them to leave. When probing, it turns out they have a start amount of their memories. In order to help figure out whats going on, and in order to get them to rest, the team is called in to figure out whats happening.

The Meet

The runners three meet Otsdarva outside Johan's clinic. Figuring they're the right people, they get whitelisted to the barrier and head inside. Once there, Johan introduces the team to 'Mits' as they're called, the corpse cadavre. Johan says "get rid of her and Ill pay you 2k, or, figure out where she's from and why she's here and I'll pay you even more." a small negotiation goes sour, but johan promises that if they deliver results he'd consider their deal.

The Plan

The team decides they have to be careful with their plan, as 'Mits' is illegal to have in seattle. Blue jay helps them get into an MCT chem suit, and the others buy some preps of physical mask from Otsdarva. Meanwhile, the trio start to formulate a plan of attack; legwork to figure out and safely transport Mits until they get where they need to be, and help pacify them.

The Run

The runners begin to probe - literally and figuratively - into Mits, to find out where she's from. The initial investigation brings into place a lot of questions.

  • Mits isn't a full name...
  • She doesn't know what magic is...
  • A dream where her father tells her You don't have to go to school if you don't want to
  • An add for an old Erika Phone
  • The fact that she was here on a school trip
  • That she was missing her partner
  • A loud sound with everything going black
  • A memory of sneaking out of her house with another girl

But the investigations continued, and questions to mits revealed a few things; Her name was Fushiguro Mitsuki, and she was called Mits by her friend, Nana. They also realized that the phone they were seeing was minted in 2000s, so the corpse cadavre here was clearly an older reanimated spirit. So, they probed more, searched the internet for more, and traveled to where they saw in the memory.

The memory Mitsuki had was from an apartment window, where she was staying while she was here in Seattle. It was a park now, as earlier in the 2000s, there had been an explosion that destroyed the building she was in, and so it was demolished and a memorial was put up. Some names were on the memorial, remarking the names of Fushiguro Mitsuki, Fushiguro Akai, and Nakamura Nagisa. These people Mitsuki confirmed to be herself, her dad, and her friends Mom. The team investigates the memorial from afar, and the drones stealth helps prevent a run-in with some nearby go-gangers.

Mitsuki then remembers about the library they went to. It was an old library in Pinehurst, known as the Pinehurst 1st memorial Library. It opened up in the late 1900s, collecting rare physical media. The team realized that more info may be there related to Mitsu's friend, so the team went. Some social checks and subterfuge later, they had a copy of a photo and a library card for Mitsuki's friend Nana, otherwhise known to Mits as Nakimura Natsumi. However, a matrix search reveals a connection to a one Nakimura Naota.

At this point, Mits reveals more about the sitaution. Mitsuki and Natsumi were friends, super close childhood friends. When they got into highschool, Natsumi revealed that she was trans, and didn't want to be known as Naota anymore. The two promised to keep it secret, even going so far as to helping Natsumi acquire proper clothes. Though, things soured when the two were found out, and both were bullied by other children in their classes. Mitsuki defended and beat up one of the bullies, but everything was pinned on Naota. Eventually, Mitsuki and Natsumi stopped going to school and started going to a nearby library on their school trip. At this point, Mitsuki's dad found out and stopped the two from seeing each other. That night, when Mitsuki was unsure of what to do, and stayed inside, an explosion occured in the natural gas pipelines, destroying most of the building and claiming the lives of nearly 30 people.

Though, now that the runners knew the entire situation, it was easy to locate Natsumi. The matrix location pointed to a nearby old age home, where everyone realized what was happening. Natsumi had moved on, living a life here in Seattle. Eventually, without support, they hid away in the closet and tried to live a life by themselves. Over time they found a wife and settled down, raising a son (Who came out as trans as well). Though, now that Natsumi was on life support, it was fate that they'd be reunited before Natsumi's death.

Using the physical mask spells, as well as levitate and invisibility, they were able to sneak Mitsuki into the hospital to say goodbye to her long lost lover.

There, in the fading daylight, the two shared their final words. Natsumi woke up to see Mitsuki, who both rejoiced. Realizing how far the other had come to get to this point, they rested, forgetting the amount of time that had passed. No amount of transgressions could stop the love they had felt for eachother some 80 years ago, slowly tugging them together. There, in the gentle breeze and slowing heartbeats they rested. The two girls falling asleep, together, for the last time.

Aftermath

The team was able to, upon agreement from Natsumi's living son, get Johan to help bury Natsumi and Mitsuki together. The impression of their deportment in handling the situation left an impression great enough on Johan and Otsdarva that they both opened up, paying them and thanking them for the dangerous mission of smuggling a corpse cadavr - no, of smuggling their client, Fushiguro Mitsuki, to meet their missing loved one.
