Character Information
Summary
Chiphead gunslinger adept that's convinced she's a cowgirl straight out of a Western movie. Sometimes she's the Good, sometimes she's the Bad, and sometimes she's the Ugly, depending on which p-fix she's slotted that day.
Goals
Note: Some of these goals are the product of BTL-produced delusions and have no basis in reality.
- Secure enough land for a real horse or two.
- Become the best gunslinger in the (Pacific North-) Wes
- Bring in the outlaw that murdered her pa.
- (Her father is alive. He's an accountant.)
- Recover the missing cache of Confederate gold her cell mate told her about before he was hanged.
- (She's never even been arrested.)
- Embody the spirit of the Drifter.
Background
Daisy Clarke was a bored child from a boring family from Charlotte. Her father was an accountant at a small corporation, her mother a math professor. The only excitement she ever had was some success in a youth competitive shooting league. Unfortunately, that was disrupted when she suddenly started performing too well, and tested positive for having Awakened into an adept during her freshman year of high school.
That was exciting, at first, but excitement turned to annoyance once she was pulled from her classes and shunted off into Awakened-only programs. Talk of her amazing gift, the money she could potentially bring into the family if she could attract a good corporate employer, conversation aplenty about her with very little concern about what Daisy wanted.
She went through the motions, even got accepted into a Criminal Justice program at Seattle U with the expectation she'd join one of the big security corporations, but Daisy was spending almost all of her free time losing herself in simsense movies. She felt free, like she was the hero of her own story, until it ended. Westerns were her favorite, things seemed so much simpler back then. You could just hit the dusty trail into new frontiers, without feeling watched and managed constantly.
It didn't take long for her to start craving something stronger, and Daisy quickly got hooked on BTLs. She stopped showing up for classes, started stealing from her parents to fund her growing habit, and one day disappeared from Charlotte.
After slotting a desperado personafix, she stole a bike and hit the open road, attracting the attention of the spirit of The Drifter which guides her path. A trail of petty crime across North America eventually got her sucked into the shadows as she craved bigger scores. Seattle is just the latest sprawl she's drifted into.
Narrative Significant Qualities
Positive
- Mentor Spirit (Horse), Mentor's Mask: At some point during her travels across North America, Calamity caught the attention of a spirit calling itself The Drifter. Embodying the freedom promised by Calamity's simsense Westerns, it appears to her as an archetypal cowboy, complete with a spectral horse.
- Adrenaline Surge: Calamity shot first.
- Steely Eyed Wheelman, Vehicle Empathy: Calamity adores her bike. It's taken her from coast to coast, and she's learned to drive it like a pro.
Negative
- National SINner (CAS): Daisy is still a citizen of the CAS. She had no big plans to fake her death before running away, so hasn't managed to shake that pesky SIN.
- Addiction (Moderate, Personafix BTLs), Distinctive Style: Calamity, at least during runs, is a near-constant user of Western-themed p-fix beetles. She always dresses to fit the part.
- Sensitive System: Calamity's simsense abuse has fried her brain just enough to make safely channeling mana through her body extra tricky.
- Poor Self Control (Thrill-Seeker): Living out of touch with reality makes it hard to respect danger.

Shadow Community Table
| Threshold | Result |
|---|---|
| 1 | Calamity is a weird anachronistic cowgirl who seems to only ever use revolvers. She rarely sticks in one place long. |
| 3 | Calamity is a near-constant personafix user, it's hard to find anyone who's had a conversation with her "out of character". Her addiction doesn't seem to hinder her skills, Calamity is always the first to shoot in a gunfight and is a wiz on her bike. Calamity is a known physical adept. |
| 5 | Calamity picks up, changes, and returns to handles and even personalities with a worrying frequency. Once she showed up to a meet, introduced herself as "The Marshall", then halfway through the run entered a daze before reintroducing herself as "Rattlesnake Kate". Kate was much more brutal than the Marshall. Rumor has it she's actually a bored brat from the suburbs. |
Assensing Table
