Overview

Some shadowrunners are considered liabilities by the shadow networks, difficult to work with and as dangerous to their allies as they are to their enemies. Others are competent runners, but for some reason or another (ticking cranial bomb, incurable disease, running under their real name and identity, unable to hide their nature as an infected, etc.) have low chances at lasting very long as runners or even lasting long in general. Most fixers refuse to invest the time and resources into bringing in and working with these types. That’s when Clay steps in. He gives those assets a chance that other fixers wouldn’t. That isn’t to say that Clay does this out of the kindness of his heart. He’s an unscrupulous bastard who does his job because it pays well to have a cadre of maladjusted sociopaths at your beck and call. He sends out runners underequipped and underprepared, RFID tags runners so he can loot their bodies when they croak, and supposedly even can be persuaded to “forget” a J’s backstabbing of their team if the price is high enough.

Personality

Clay is sleazy, amoral, and heartless. This can be played straight or exaggerated to the point of comic relief, depending on the run’s tone. He shouldn’t treat his runners as well as a regular fixer does, omitting info about the job for brevity and underselling danger while overselling rewards. He does have a passion for fine art and will treat anyone he knows to be a fellow connoisseur with much more respect than he does most of his runners. Of course, there’s very little overlap between interest in fine art and being a runner so questionable or dangerous that Clay is fixing for you.

Aspects Description

Aspect Description
Disposable Assets Clay doesn’t expect you to live very long. In fact, he doesn’t expect you to make it through this run. That means if he’s helping you on-table, he’ll demand payment while you’re still breathing. If you’re paying Nuyen, that means payment up front. If you’re doing a favor for him, that means you do the work before he gives you anything. Particularly unusual or mitigating circumstances might allow you to pay chips for help, but only very rarely.
Above Aspect pending approval. Please notify Thematics.
Deniable Assets It’s nothing personal, he just needs to be able to drop everything and convince people you two never met you at a moment’s notice. Loyalty only gives half as many dice as it normally does (rounded up) when rolling for this contact.
Above Aspect pending approval. Please notify Thematics.
Low Expectations Clay is used to habits and predilections that would be dealbreakers for a normal fixer. Ignore any penalties to his rolls caused by notoriety.
Hero(?) of a Thousand Faces Keeping a stable of runners means lots of false identities. +2 to acquire fake SINs.
I Found This On a Dead Runner +2 dice to find Restricted and Forbidden gear that could conceivably be acquired at chargen (assuming max resources and Restricted Gear, so basically no planes or yachts and you’re cool). Clay also keeps a stash of prepaid commlinks, Renraku Senseis, Katanas, Ares Predators, Armor Jackets, Duffel Bags, Steyr TMPs, Combat Knives, and Nemesis Praetorians at his office, available to borrow for a fee. Of course, these are all RFID tagged so he can get them back if you don’t make it.
Bad Apples +2 dice to connect you with crooked or corrupt law enforcement members. Because apparently fixers are supposed to look out for their clients or something?
