Overview

Edward Durant Wells is an avionics engineer for Federated-Boeing. After graduating with honors at University of Washington, Ed joined Federated-Boeing as part of their growing unmanned V/STOL development division. Despite an excellent technical record, Wells found himself repeatedly passed over for promotion, largely due to metahuman bias. Not willing to take it sitting down, Ed brought the issue up with upper management—a mistake which he is still paying for. Subsequently ostracized and effectively forced into retirement-in-place, he now spends his days at his desk inside a disused wind tunnel, the latest in a long string of subtle jabs from his superiors. More than anything, Ed just wanted to see his designs take flight, but years of hostility have worn him down into an embittered, cynical shell of his former self. Instead, Ed fills his weekends painstakingly restoring antique drones to their original specs and occasionally visiting with his grown daughter, Anna, the only true relationship he has left.
