Summary
The runners get a nice offer from a Wuxing J. Burn a local talismonger business to the ground and earn 20k nuyen. What's not to like?
Background
Wuxing releases a regular internal press release detailing their planned financial actions related to the stock market. This is supposed to STAY internal but the most recent was leaked. On it was a list of purchases as well as the planned short selling of Trinity Moon, a tacoma based talisman shipping and production company well regarded by the locals. Put a rival out of business and make some money on the way. Instead, the locals of Tacoma and beyond attempted to short squeeze Wuxing, investing piles of hard earned savings. The local veterans association even had some combat ready volunteers take up arms to protect the physical location from any would-be attackers.
The Meet
The runners pulled up to a club called "Mongoose". After squeezing past the troll bouncer, they found their way to the second floor, where a wall of bodyguards could be found. The J invited the runners to enter through the beef wall and the runners met their Mr. Wu. He gave a simple deal. Twenty thousand nuyen for as much damage to stock and property that the runners could manage. A location at the Tacoma docks in a c-zone and 2 days. The runners, though not excited at the prospect of doing a corps dirty work, accepted nevertheless. Nuyen is Nuyen at the end of the day.
The Plan
After a smidge of legwork, the runners learned the basic facts about their target. Still a little mixed morally, they decided to move in and get eyes on the facility. IT was a large one in the Tacoma Dock district about half the size of a city block with maybe 14 guards filtering through the entire structure and its partially-shipping-business-partially-shop design. The the recon done, it was time to plan.
They settled on a variation of an old classic. After Wires jacked some poor idiot's car, they spray painted it black and had Roguarou and Wick dress up as greasy Halloweeners to distract and pull guards while Wires would move in to plant bombs with Cold Hands running support.
The Run
Wick and Rougarou's plan worked damn well. They drove up and bothered the ever-living fuck out of these guards, drawing about 6 of them who just kinda stood there pointing guns awkwardly. They weren't ready for the Halloweener menace and it SHOWED. As that half of the team were distracting the clump of guards, Cold Hands cracked the lock and the two of them snuck in.
And instantly spotted a towering, human shaped constellation. Wearing Khaki shorts and a Hawaiian shirt. And holding a glock. A powerful spirit of Guardian. Cold Hands was able to step out of sight in hand but Wires was spotted and the spirt began to move in to engage.
Hearing the commotion, Rougarou instantly kicked into gear, launching a hail of bullets and locking down a clump of them while Cold Hands engaged the spirit. Suddenly, leaping over one the piles of Crates was an incredibly casuaully fashionable physical adept and her mage buddy. After exhanging blows with Cold Hands, she broke off and kicked Wires into unconsiousness. Outside, Wick scattered the baddies with grenades while Rougarou fixed-bayonets and charged em, knocking down more and thinning their numbers.
It was then the mage decided to make his appearance. An up-tight elf with a pretentious suit, he manabolted Cold Hands who responded by sprinting towards him and slicing open most of his neck. The mage, as most things are want to do when deprived of the majority of their neck, died. His bound spirit looked around the room with fresh eyes and offered to help in any way it could.
Cold Hands stabbed the adept one final time, offering to let her leave with only a scar. She took this offer, calling the team "corpo scum" as she left. With the majority of threats neutralized, Wires was patched, the charges were placed and the stragglers were kicked out of the building by the newly freed Spirit, Star Man. Injured but still kickin', with an exploding building at their backs, the runners drove off.
Aftermath
Wuxing apparently grabbed onto an insurance loophole because that runner attack pushed the place underwater and the short selling earned them a nice pile of cash. The business's downfall was blamed on the horrible actions of horrible runners. The mage, who along with most of the security, was apparently a member of the Tacoma Veteran's association, had a memorial put out in the news.
But the nuyen was wired through just the same.
