Summary
Ace Powers got distracted from a holiday drug bender to look at bad daily stream figures, and hired a run team to up a Dwarve's media profile who had been slid into his A&R blanket.
Background
Ace is only tangentially related to anything happening at Or'zet Underground, but does end up at the top of the Seattle A&R list often enough, making him feel at least tangentially responsible. While trying to create himself an evening of Christmas Cheer but kept getting distracted by the A&R numbers and some details he saw on a balance sheet. It made him go a little off the rails in a novacoke frenzy and call a runner team that he forgot he had called by the time they arrived.
The Meet
Ace was holled up in the Ultra Resort, seaside in Auburn. The team was smart enough to park down the block in an A zone not roll their explosives collection into an AA garage, and were stopped by two armed troll security guards and given a polite once over, eventually revealing they were on Ace's payroll and walking the team over to a side tower entrance and a Horizon attache/assistant. The collected most of the heavy arms and send the team on their way with the attache who takes them to a small elevator the 18th floor where Ace's (substandard by his opinion because it was not the 20th) and found him in the throes of a massive novacoke crash, pouring over A&R datasheets. He barely remembered having called the team when the arrived, and offered them a small % of the nightly seattle feeds if they could up the profile of a dwarf who ended up on his books while pushing the ratings. He threw them a handful of credsticks and simrigs as an operating budget and sent them on their way.
The Plan
After leaving and heading towards the OU to start planning, the team realized it has not actually gotten contact information for the target of tonight's media assault. Shredder reaches out to Elmo Stubitz using "I know a guy" and put herself directly in the center of a Horizon internal slapfight and the behind the scenes drama of an Or'zet Underground headliner. Elmo gave her Pete's # and quietly pulled himself out of the conversation. Not revealing that he was Pete's Agent, or not wanting to get into it with Ace.
The team does track down Ace at Crusher 495 where it's a family potluck and Rock & Roll night. They are a bit surprised to find how mellow and pleasant Pete is, and more so that he has been a "Guest" in the Underhaven signing with no real direction from Horizon the Festival or Crime Time.
Getting a feel for him and thinking out options the team decides another explosion on his record is going to look great, as well as highlighting how safe and efficient he is when blowing stuff up by figuring out a block party venue and getting some drone attention.
