Summary
Shy in her scouting of the area of Indonesia finds what may be a new supply route for the N-51, but also finds what may be a potential future ally... or enemy.
Background
As the war rages on in Indonesia, a recent scout patrol was sent into the northern section of the island. After multiple days of radio silence, the N-51 decides to send in the big guns... or rather, gun to investigate.
The Meet
As she was running basic drills for her squad Shy was called in for an assignment from the Commander. Leaving them to their vices before stepping in to the office where the commander so tired and desperate was using Matrix AR to write down notes and was having trouble closing one of the displays. After some brief assistance from Shy the Commander relayed that through drones and observation he N-51 was able to see a potential route not touched by the rebels. Said route could potentially serve as a supply line in place of the plane that was shot down by other runners. But the scouts sent ahead by the N-51 had not reported in for over 3 days. Shy seeing the writing on the wall agreed to go investigate where they last reported in and see what she could figure out. After being dismissed Commander thankfully was able to find another piece of paper to write upon from under his desk.
The Plan
As Shy headed towards the point last observed she managed to evade enemy sight lines till she arrived at a massive tree line. the rain and foliage proving useful as she attempted to track the missing men. As she pressed ahead faintly even despite the rain and terrain Shy was able to pick up a faint trail and a faint aura of an adept recently here amidst the trees. And despite her skills of observation Shy got lost. She found them again! But... again got lost. Luck however would be on her side as she managed to find one of the men along the side of the road. Who... lay there dead with a wooden sign nailed directly into his chest plate. After translating it from Indonesian the ominous sign read
"Foreigners and traitors all, leave this land and its people. It's trees should be nurtured with rain not blood. It's fires caused by lightning not the chemicals of man. Leave now, for Hantu watches all."
Upon receiving the ominous threat Shy progressed further into the dense rainforest, thankfully managed to not get lost again as she saw the rest of the men of the platoon, branches sticking out of their skulls and helmets as they had been impaled on the trees, the rest of their mangled bodies dangled and continued to decay. The same sign observed earlier impaled on the center most soldier. Despite seeing war without end and experiencing the worst the world had to offer Shy still needed to steel her resolve before heading onwards, realizing magic and intensely powerful people had to be involved in this matter. Fully realizing this Shy proceeded with caution to find whoever may be responsible.
The Run
Sneaking through the woods with her knife at the ready Shy looked around for the individuals involved in the massacre. Luck eventually shining on her as Shy noticed a vigilant yet tired sniper expertly hidden amongst the tree line. A powerful Barret in hand catching her eye as she assensed and noticed the figure having solid ware and power as well. Magic stronger than even the average runner at a rating of 8. Impressing and concerning Shy for a moment as another figure approached with nearly exact matching strength and equipment took the first ones watch. As the original sniper/lookout headed further in Shy took the opportunity to strike, masterfully sneaking up the tree and assuming they were powerful enough to take a hit Shy managed to sink the knife deep into their chest cavity in a gap between the FBA they wore. As the figure fell to the ground Shy was able to pick them up and with superhuman endurance and strength managed to drag them and sneak them back to base.
Aftermath
Upon arriving back at base the captured soldier was taken to the interrogator for further questioning. The Commander worried after Shy mentioned the name Hantu, the name belonging to an Indonesian mercenary and runner skilled enough to kill a Saeder-Krupp higher up. Said higher up also being a fully fledged dragon. Other feats had been performed by this legend that concerned the N-51. Even dedicating part of their recon before the war started to see if she was in the area. The assumption she was gone being laid into their plans and how they fought. After giving her report and getting some earned sleep Shy headed towards the interrogator to see what he had discovered. Upon a tray there sat the Barret, several magazines of ammunition, and a cyanide tooth which the interrogator was able to remove. The man sitting was silent, nearly completely so but eventually shy and the interrogator were able to ware the man down till he talked about the group slightly, demanding to talk to his leader if they wanted anything. A brief DNI call later and Shy was in touch with Hantu. Shy stating they simply wish to talk about opening a supply route through their territory. After some back and forth a meeting was arranged between Shy and the others, where upon the future of the N-51's efforts may be on the line.
