Overview

Dr. Joseph Ramirez was born a genius. Human, middle class, destined for greatness. Everything changed one night in 2021. Monsters became real, and great news! He was one. He has spent the last 60 years coming to terms with his condition, fighting for the right to exist, and trying to understand this fresh new realm of biology.

Dr. Ramirex though once that he would change the world. Bring a human (or even better than human) lifespan and health to orks and trolls everywhere. This project has unfortunately stalled out to the point of impossibility. This does not discourage him, and he has become more obsessed, if anything. To make ends meet, he develops and improved augmentations, with a focus on bioware. This is not something that lights his spark, but it's easy enough and it makes good money. After years of doing this, he has inadvertently become an excellent Street Doc, though he doesn't much care.

He is very well connected in his local neighborhood, and known around Seattle, but has little ambition or connection with bigger players and the Powers That Be.

His appearance and his own health is maintained through every biological or augmenting procedure available, and he looks *much* younger than he should as a result.

Aspects Description

All negative aspects are adapted from existing contacts.

Aspect Description
All Work and No Play Dr. Ramirez is a well established Street Doc, but his real passion is his biological research. He puts in 8 hours a day paying the bills and is otherwise occupied with personal projects. Add +5 to the threshold of the contact availability test if trying to contact him outside of normal hours (8am-4pm PST).
Manners Maketh Man Dr. Ramirez has studied and worked hard his entire life, he is ready to treat similarly serious people with respect, but has no time for 'troublemakers'. Notoriety has a double penalty when dealing with him: subtract twice the runner's Notoriety from any check he is asked to do.
Not Rocket Science Dr. Ramirez has spent a lifetime studying biology. This has proved less useful than he might assert it would be, but at least this whole Street Doc 'side-project' has taken off. Dr. Ramirez has a +2 on all tests relating to biological knowledge, including biotechnology and anthropology.
Make a Long Story Short Ramirez is something of an unintentional scholar of Ork & Troll ("Goblinoid") history. Granted, he was there for most of it, so maybe that doesn't count as scholarship. Dr. Ramirez has a +2 on all tests relating to information concerning orks & trolls, primarily their history and specific biology.
Cutting Corners While the cure for Orkish short lifespans still eludes him, the 'temporary solution' of augmentation is much better than nothing. Ultimately, this is not the end goal, but Dr. Ramirez has spent years honing his craft with this 'side-gig'. He gets a +2 on all tests relating to augmentations.
Easy Does It Steel and sinew do not mix. They may coexist, but they are co-workers, rather than brothers-in-arms. Dr. Ramirez has a strong preference for soft augs, and has a +2 on tests relating to bioware.
The Benefit of the Doubt The closer the match, the less the impact on the natural body there is. DNA matching is a good technique that Ramirez hopes to incorporate more holistically into all types of bioware. For now, he has a +2 on tests relating to cultured bioware.
Wrap Your Head Around It While he would be reticent to call himself a Street Doc, or God forbid, a 'ware slinger, Ramirez has decades of experience walking these streets and finding diamonds in the rough. He lacks connections in high places, but he doesn't need them. Dr. Ramirez has a +2 on tests relating to items of availability 16 or higher.
Speak of The Devil The legal infrastructure of Seattle is Swiss cheese and temporary band-aids, mixed and weak like this metaphor. Subverting this infrastructure is what makes the world go-round. Dr. Ramirez is used to it, and unimpeded by legal sanction, he gets a +2 on tests relating to items of restricted or forbidden availability.
