Overview

Sn00p3r: Ghost of the Matrix

No one knows his real name. He prefers it that way. Names are liabilities, vulnerabilities—things that can be traced, exploited. He only introduces himself as Sn00p3r, a relic from his early days in the Matrix, a handle that stuck long after he left the shadows behind.

Origins: Born in the Grid

Sn00p3r was born in Seattle in 2028, raised in a city where megacorporations ruled and survival meant knowing which alleys to avoid and which connections to keep. At eight years old, he discovered he was different. While other kids struggled with outdated commlinks and barely grasped AR overlays, he felt the Matrix. The raw, humming currents of data called to him, whispered secrets only he could understand. He was Otaku—one of the children of the Matrix. But he knew better than to announce it. Even at a young age, he had heard the stories: Otaku disappearing, hunted by corps and governments alike. So he kept it to himself, hiding his talents behind a mask of normalcy. That illusion shattered when he turned sixteen. Someone—maybe a fixer, maybe a corp snitch—discovered what he was. In a single night, he was given an ultimatum: Run or die.

The Runner’s Life

So he ran. He learned fast—how to break into security grids, how to forge IDs, how to slip past ICE like a ghost. The job came naturally to him. He wasn’t just another decker; he was something more, something wired into the digital world in ways others weren’t. He ran the shadows through his twenties, hacking for crews, ghosting into corp networks, and making enemies he’d never meet in the real world. Then came the Crash of 2064.

For the first time in his life, silence. The Matrix was gone—ripped apart, erased. He was deaf, blind, cut off from the one thing that had defined him. A year passed in a fog of frustration and doubt. Then, suddenly, it returned. But it was different now.

And so was he.

Where once he needed hardware, now the Matrix welcomed him without it. He was no longer just an Otaku—he had become something else. A Technomancer.

The Second Life

With new abilities came new questions, and Sn00p3r was never one to leave questions unanswered. He dived into his newfound powers, pushing the limits of what he could do. He wasn’t just hacking the Matrix anymore—he was part of it. For four years, he ran harder than ever, experimenting with his abilities and staying one step ahead of those who wanted to dissect him. He attempted Submersion once, unlocking deeper resonance within himself. He emerged with new tools:

Skinlink – The ability to interface directly with devices through touch.

Quiet – A presence so subtle in the Matrix that even the strongest spam can't penetrate.

Resonance Scream – A resonance call to arms for all spam imaginable.

Resonance Link – A deeper, almost instinctual connection to other Technomancers.

Then came the job that nearly killed him.

It was a corp raid—should have been simple, routine. It wasn’t. The ambush came fast, brutal. ICE hit harder than expected. Onsite security had live feed tracking him inside the Matrix. His crew got torn apart, and he barely made it out. The experience shook him, rattled something deep inside. For the first time in his career, he questioned whether the risk was still worth it.

So he did the one thing runners rarely do. He quit.

The Informant

That wasn’t to say he left the life behind entirely.

Sn00p3r pivoted, using his skills in a different way. He became a fence, a datamonger, a ghost in the system who supplied intel to those who needed it. He kept a foot in both worlds—maintaining his old runner contacts while forging new relationships with corporate and law enforcement figures who saw value in his information network.

Over the years, he built a reputation:

If you needed a digital safehouse, he knew where to set up. If you needed black-market gear, he had connections. If you needed to disappear, he knew which cracks in the city to slip through. But trust didn’t come easily.

Decades in the shadows left their mark. He was stiff, blunt, and distrustful of strangers. If he didn’t like you, he’d dig through your commlink before you even realized it. But if you earned his trust? He’d move heaven and earth to help you—unless it came at the cost of his own survival. At the end of the day, there was only one person Sn00p3r truly looked out for: himself.

Still, he understood the game. If a runner called him for help, he answered. He knew the brutal timelines, the impossible deadlines, the way Mr. and Ms. Johnson squeezed runners dry. If he could make their jobs easier, he would—because he had been there before.

Now, he operates in the shadows of Seattle, watching, listening, and waiting.

Not all runners stay dead forever.

And Sn00p3r is always watching.

GM Notes

  • Note 1: Because of his years as a runner, he is sometimes a bit stiff and rough in his dealings with others, especially if he doesn't know them. If he doesn't trust something expect him to search your commlink for anything he can find. The people he does trust he will do almost anything for, but there is only 1 person he will really do anything for and that is himself. If a runner contacts him for help he tries to do so ASAP because he knows the short deadlines runners often get from those damn Johnsons.
  • Note 2: Sn00p3r has a resonance of 10
  • Note 3: In his last 4 years of running, he tried the Submersion a few times and obtained the following skills (echoes): Skinlink, Quiet & Resonance scream, Mathemagics.
