3 MCT CorpSec Killed in Combat |
Background
A few TerraFirst! protesters attempted to install a sign on an MCT owned chemical plant, however, they were all killed. Thus, TerraFirst! hired runners to make sure the message sticks.
Meet
The runners arrive at the TerraFirst! compound, and after an unsuccessful round of negotiations agree on the price set by the Johnson. The goal was to place an AR banner on top of the MCT smokestack and acquire a set of codes from an employee, either on-site or off.
Run
The runners meet at a local bar to discuss their plan to enter the facility, after acquiring a set of blueprints from Paragon's contact "Miss Moon." After a serious amount of deliberation and a conversation with a TerraFirst! decker, the group decides that the best plan of action is to cut the power to the facility and blow their generators. This plan is accomplished in two basic phases. Ranger, Plumo, and Crownless would sneak into the maintenance tunnel and set an HE grenade on a timer to blow the main power line. In the meantime, Paragon would disguise themselves as a janitor (with credentials acquired from an MCT temp agency) and enter the facility carrying HE grenades packed in Ranger's hardshell briefcase, which has been disguised as a lunchbox.
The first part of the plan goes off without a hitch. The timer is set for 5:30 am and the crew waits by for the go-signal. Paragon enters the facility with no problems and manages to sneak away from the main group (after hearing an MCT guard geek an ork for urinating on MCT property) and attempts to fast talk their way into the utilities building, explaining that they were meant to bring lunch to one of the engineers working inside. They successfully manage to convince the guard to allow them in the building but only so long as he follows them. Paragon removes the package of explosives from the "lunchbox" and convinces one of the engineers that it's a surprise for another engineer whose birthday is today (this nearly fails, but as it turns out it actually was that engineer's birthday). Paragon places the package between two of the generators and rejoins the main group of janitors.
Shortly after this, the explosives set by the main team go off and Paragon triggers the explosives in the utility building as well, setting it ablaze and killing one engineer. With the power out, the rest of the team enters the facility thanks to Crownless's power blade. Plumo sneaks up behind the guard holding Paragon and the rest of the janitors at gunpoint and convinces him to drop his gun. He is soon knocked unconscious and his commlink destroyed. Paragon lifts the AR banner onto the smokestack with levitate and Ranger convinces one of the janitors to take the guard's gun and run with it out of the facility (with the promised reward of 1500 nuyen, to be exchanged at a later date).
The group then travels to the Administration building to accomplish the second part of the run and engage in combat with two guards. Plumo throws a frag grenade at their feet, Ranger fires six rounds through one of their heads, and Crownless and Paragon team up to take down the other guard. The team enters the building and are briefly delayed by the head scientist, who engages them in combat with a katana, but he is swiftly knocked unconscious by a burst of gel rounds from Ranger. Plumo takes the scientist's katana. Crownless intimidates the rest of the employees into giving up the codes but is given one false code; the team is able to determine this and Crownless doubles down on his intimidation, convincing them to give him the correct code this time. However, the team still decides to take an intern and release him once they can confirm the codes are legitimate.
Upon attempting to exit the building the team is greeted by a helicopter and a group of five MCT guards. Paragon leads two of them away with mirages and draws the attention of the rest to the door with the use of double image. Crownless is able to secure the team an exit through one of the windows and Ranger stealthily leads the team to the safety of Plumo's car, where they are able to escape the quarantine zone by convincing Knight Errant that they were simple tourists. Upon confirming the legitimacy of the codes the team drops off the intern with the lead scientist's katana.
