"We have need of a covert investigation into a number of disappearances from a corporate enclave. We prefer that the investigation remain secret, as we do not want word of this to spread until it is resolved."
A recovering BTL addict has gone missing days before Christmas, and a concerned priest hires a team of shadowrunners to ensure she is safe.

The Meet
The Meet
With a variety of transportation methods, including a roomba for the local Leopard, Cryo, the team met in a quiet bar in southern Bellevue. There they encountered a terse Johnson who explained that they were needed to investigate the disappearance of eight awakened employees at a thaumaturgical construction company, Agristruct Systems.
The team met Rev. Toby Newton in his church in the Redmond barrens. He explained that the church had been providing help to recovering addicts, but one of his parish members by the name of Freda Key had recently disappeared after some worrying conversation about making the neighborhood children happy. The team inquires about her problems, and the Reverend tells them she used to be addicted to dreamchips. He also gives them her address upon request along with a key to her front door. He offers to pay each team member 2,000¥, but the team refuses any pay given the church's poor financial situation.

The mages were being spirited away in the evenings, under cover of a dense fog cover.

The Legwork
The Legwork
First up, Golden Suit made a call to an infobroker of his, requesting information about weird weather patterns, and fog magic that snatched people. While waiting for the call back, Scrabble searched the Matrix, discovering that Agristruct Systems was a minor subsidiary of the Aztechnology Corporate Group. Then the team travelled to the Enclave, discovering a massive offensive mana barrier over the site. There, they investigated further, investigating the HR files, camera footage and incident reports.
At Freda Key's home, the team begins examining her living space. Wolfheart examines impressions left in astral space, discerning that Freda had been desperate to please the neighborhood children (and presumably spent a lot of money buying them laser tag supplies), then felt a yearning to use a BTL. Setback and Dr. Trauma rifle through her things to discern that she'd only recently left, within no more than a few days. Setback then remembered that she'd bumped into Freda before at a club in Tarislar, and examining the club's matrix presence showed that it had been exploiting her as a model with racy photos for advertisements. The team also learned that this club was under the control of a circle of Black Magicians, who were using the club's debauchery to generate a background count aspected to their tradition; they planned to increase it even more with a death metal concert that evening. Wolfheart called her fixer Briar, who knew about the club and that it had been drawing power from the Gaeatronics grid that had been powering the Deireadh An Tuarthell, the Tarislar medical center that had stood since the Night of Rage.

Once they knew who they were looking for, Trash Panda and Wolfheart summoned spirits to Search for Luke Nevin, one of the missing mages. Despite the mana barrier concealing them, they were successful, finding all eight mages inside a safehouse ten kilometers from the Enclave. The mages had escaped, afraid that they were going to be infested by bugs, as Agristruct Systems was being purchased by Ares.

The Plan
The Plan
The team played with several different plans, but eventually settled with conning their way into the facility's ritual room, with a line about how the use of the leylines that lay under the facility were attracting the ire of a free spirit.
The team decided to fight the background count at the club by killing the mood. Briar agreed to cut its power by having some people unplug its Gaeatronics tap from Tarislar, but only if they managed to kill all of the black magicians so that they wouldn't start anything with the Laesa. Wolfheart happily agreed to this as they were a wound on the land, and the team mostly agreed after how they had treated Freda. She added to the mood-killing by summoning a water spirit from her stone circle to call down a storm on the club. Once the storm had reached its peak, the team would call Briar to have him cut the power, then storm in and assassinate all of the magicians as quickly as possible before extracting Freda.

Once inside, they would disrupt the barrier ritual, so that the mages could break out their remaining escapees.

The Run
The Run
Conning into the Ritual chamber was the easy part.
The storm took an hour and a half to brew, but it picked up nicely. Hail rained down on the club. The team called in Briar's favor, and he came through quickly. Once the power was cut and the mood was soured, the team rushed in. Calypso assassinated their leader, and Usagi shot one of them down. Wolfheart projected inside and commanded the water spirit to fight them, which it did. Setback shot one, but then the remaining lodge members focused fire with manabolts and nearly killed her. She managed to toss a grenade as they took her out, severely injuring them all. Usagi, Calypso, and the water spirit cleaned up quickly. Dr. Trauma tended to Setback's wounds, and Wolfheart called in a spirit of man who knew the Heal spell to recover the rest of her wounds. The rest of the team found the black magicians' lodge and destroyed it.
To be fair, the rest were easy parts too.

The Mages made their way to the Ritual chamber, Scrabble took a trip to the security office, and Gold Suit incapacitated the Ritual leader, causing a quick firefight, with the Agristruct team incapacitated in a matter of seconds.

The last endeavor was for Scrabble to try to prove if it was true about the bug infestation in, but in the rush, he unfortunately triggered a databomb, bricking his deck instantly, and throwing out of the matrix with nasty dumpshock.

The team patched themselves up, cleaned their auras, then left with the escaping Agristruct mages.

After a call to their Johnson, they collected their paydays, and wished the mages good fortune linking up with Ex-Firewatch.

After the threats had been cleaned up, the team found Freda Key alive and unharmed. She was suffering greatly from her addiction. Wolfheart called upon another spirit of man who knew how to alleviate addictions so that she could focus and not experience withdrawal. Despite her clarity, Freda was depressed, not finding the motivation to leave. Wolfheart manifested and spoke to her earnestly, noting that she had spent so much money trying to make the neighborhood children happy. She wanted to help others, but the pain was a lot to deal with. Her words rang true to Freda, but it took her some time to settle down. She soon returned to the Reverend; Usagi extended an offer for him to contact Solace for more help. He strongly considered it.

Eva was very pleased with herself when she made it home. Nobody was there, and she had the whole place to herself. This was perfect. She dumped her gear off in the usual place, inside the dish washer that didn't have a door anymore, and went into the bedroom to lay on the bed and drop into cold sim. Some of her favorite shows were on tonight, and she didn't want to miss them. She knew her Johnson would not be happy, but there was just enough plausible sounding evidence to keep them clean. The Johnson would surely never hire her again, but she got a bunch of people out of a place they didn't want to be. That seemed more important to her. Karl Kombatmage Reloaded was starting, rumor has it that this episode is going to be the best in the season. But all those fan discussion hosts tend to say that about a lot of episodes when there are leaks. Eva was looking forward to finding out.

Oh! Neat, when did we start putting places for this in here? Eh, probably not important... Anyway! I don't think the Johnson liked my method of arriving at the meet, but what's really different between driving and riding a roomba? I don't really know myself, but the cops thought it was weird too. They didn't stop me though... Anyway, we were hired to track down some people and find out why they'd been disappearing. Turns out, they were trying to get out of the company we were hired by before they were acquired by Ares for all of them to get turned into BUGS! So we helped them get the rest of the people they wanted out free, and got attacked by the local security, but we won, and then we helped get a bunch of mages out and it was great! Except for the dogs they had there... They were mean, and didn't want to play...

I often hear people say that spirits of fire and air are the most fearsome, but the spirits of water can sense the ebbs and flows of the seasons, and they follow the course of the rivers. When I heard there was a strange mist on a focal point along a ley line, I called one for help. It tracked down the missing mages, and we organized an extraction for the employees who wanted off a termite-infested, sinking ship. With the spirit's help, I called upon a fearsome storm of wind, hail, and fog. It battered the stronghold around the focal point, and it helped the mana children make their escape. I am grateful to the spirits of this land for their aid.

Summary

A recovering BTL addict has gone missing days before Christmas, and a concerned priest hires a team of shadowrunners to ensure she is safe.

The Meet

The team met Rev. Toby Newton in his church in the Redmond barrens. He explained that the church had been providing help to recovering addicts, but one of his parish members by the name of Freda Key had recently disappeared after some worrying conversation about making the neighborhood children happy. The team inquires about her problems, and the Reverend tells them she used to be addicted to dreamchips. He also gives them her address upon request along with a key to her front door. He offers to pay each team member 2,000¥, but the team refuses any pay given the church's poor financial situation.

The Legwork

The Plan

The Run

Aftermath

Dr.Trauma

I'm glad we were able to get that woman away from them, she may have issues but no one deserves being used like that in a lodge.

Wolfheart

This was not an easy thing to do, but it had to be done. That lodge was an evil, a blight on the land that I minister. I heard the call of Wolf, who taught me that I should not back down. As the wildfire purges the forest so that it can grow healthy again, so did we purge Tarislar of those parasites. True strength does not come from the exploitation of others. Wolf smiles upon me, today.
