Summary
Naomi Fisk hires two runners to steal the choreography notes from a Russian dancer and choreographer so that a colleague can gain advantage auditioning in an upcoming ballet. The runners have 3 days (Friday to Sunday) to obtain the details for early rehearsals. After obtaining some background information about the choreographer and his trip the two alchemists develop a plan that leverages their skills: brew some aqua vitae and detox preps, challenge the Russian to a drinking contest and drink him to oblivion and steal the notes. However, learning a spell and performing the alchemy was a time consuming process even with flawless teamwork. As a consequence, they did not observe the Red Vory meeting party and security arrangements and lost a day and a half of time. Luckily Hakim Knew a Guy and got in contact with the concierge at the Underhaven Grotto Hotel and obtained information about the security detail. Another contact and more bribery got them the current location of the choreographer: Maison du Soleil Levant the Finnigan Family brothel in Touristville. The drinking contest worked like a charm. As a final touch, the team offered a very generous bribe to Biggie Cheesecake to accompany the sloppy drunk dancer back to his hotel room and photograph his diary.
Background
Naomi Fisk sees an opportunity to expand her activities in Seattle's performing arts scene. A Russian dancer and choreographer, Mikhail Brezhnev, has been hired for a production by the Pacific Northwest Ballet company. One of her dance instructors at Dame du Dance, Natasha Fedosova, is planning on auditioning. If she can obtain a prominent part, the Redmond Amateur Theatrical Society will be in a position to expand it's artistic offerings. In order to maximize the chances of obtaining a part for Natasha, Naomi hires a group of shadowrunners to steal Brezhnev's choreography when he arrives in Seattle.
The Meet
The team met their prospective employer at her dance studio in Tacoma, Dame du Dance. Hakim arrived a few minutes early, Saladin and Naomi at the same time. The three proceeded to Ms. Johnson's office and talked as the studio closed down for the night. Naomi explained the she wanted to steal the choreography from a visiting Russian dancer an choreographer so that she and her colleague could cheat on rehearsal time. She specifically wanted three things: the choreographic structure, the movements used to construct motifs, and the dynamic movements linking the movements into motifs. She told the team about his Red Vory contact and the Volga Bath House and Spa. She offered 10,000 Nuyen and a weekend deadline. The team accepted after obtaining a 1,000 Nuyen advance payment.
The Plan
Learn the Detox spell, brew aqua vitae to get the target really drunk really fast, brew detox preparations to keep the team from getting drunk. Let the bodyguards take the target back to his hotel room along with preferred prostitute from the brothel. Bribe prostitute to photograph diary. Collect ill gotten gains.
The Run
Liberal use of bribery and maximal use of teamwork made the plan work smoothly.
Aftermath
Natasha used her extra rehearsal time wisely and obtained the prima ballerina role. The Redmond Amateur Theatrical Society's ability to bring ballet to the unwashed masses is enhanced.
