Summary

In an act of betrayal and desperation, runners turn against the N-511 and aid the rebels that oppose them.

Background

As the war rages on in Indonesia the N-51 holds their footing and slightly advances against the rebel forces. The rebels wanting a leg up on the paramilitary company employ the aid of runners to cut off their supply line and hopefully force their enemies into the defensive.

The Meet

Meeting at the Seattle airstrip the runners come across a mysterious masked J offering a very high sum of nuyen for aid taking down a support transport in Indonesia. Despite the danger the runners had little to no problem given the amount of pay they would receive for doing the task at hand. Pieces and upgrades for drones also agreed to be provided upon success of the mission at hand.

The Plan

The plan was simple, to fly over to a rebel owned port and gear up with proper equipment capable of taking down the military aircraft carrying over supplies. Zan Zan and Blackhawk studying the use of such weapons on the way over. Upon arriving at their destination they had to chart a path. The road proving easier to traverse but more risky should any patrols or other N-51 personnel be in active patrol. The woods however likely proving to be more exhausting and potentially dangerous in its own way given the local wildlife. After some careful deliberation a sort of half way method was chosen. Where in for the first half the runners would take the roads closer to rebel territory but splitting off into the woods once closer to the N-51 holdout. Grabbing the firepower and ammunition they needed the runners headed onwards.

The Run

True enough the road while somewhat long was uneventful, no obstructions or difficulties crossed the runners path. Upon reaching the half way point between the two factions the runners split off into the wilderness, where the venture proved far more costly. The dense waters and plethora of trees hindering speed in every way they could. Though things would get strangely quiet as the waters rose in height. Too quiet in fact. Quiet enough that Blackhawk was almost surprised by the alligator that lunged at him from below the depths just outside of his line of sight. The runners then prepared to engage the scaled opponents, Heracles aiding the 2 combatants as best he could. Blackhawk dodging and taking whatever shots he could while Zan took the brunt of the onslaught, almost getting rolled into the water before evading the jaws. Through blade slashes and bullet storms eventually the reptilian attackers fell quiet. Thankfully gunshots did not seem out of place in a warzone so the trio pressed onwards to their destination.

Things once again fell silent as they trekked through the murky wilderness. Though this ease did not last long as a volley of fire nearly collided with the runners from a stealthed assailant. After said volley the assailant found no need in hiding themselves as Hank made themselves known, arsenal at their back and in hand. The runners pushed near to their limit as strike after strike missed with very few rounds found their actual mark and when they did leaving naught but mere scratches. It seemed even in both fronts, the runners barely able to keep up with the wardog's strength and speed. This however took a turn for the better as Zan noticed a Nerlithothep the Succubus simply relaxing and enjoying the spectacle as runners were stabbed in the ribs. Zan asked for but one simple favor to ensure all left the field alive, to convince Hank to back down as the spirit seemed to be his ally. With the promise of a return favor the spirit simply offered she could ease him to sleep so they could escape once the fighting was over. With a couple more well placed strikes and shots Hank slumped over defeated. Thoroughly exhausted and battered the runners continued onwards to a spot nearby where the aircraft would pass. Blackhawk heavily wounded from the fight with Hank could not fire the rocket launcher, leaving it instead to Zan after aiding her with analyze device and Heracles assisted aiming. The aircraft was struck by the missile but still was airborne. Blackhawk reacting quick took but one burst shot at the aircraft which sent it spiraling down to the ground.

Realizing forces would be upon them soon the runners sprinted back through the wilderness and road to the rebel encampment that agreed to send them home. Which with beaten bodies and exhausted breaths they did, some filled with more regret than others.

Aftermath

With their main supply line cut, water and other such vital resources have become far more scarce for the N-51. Tipping the war heavily in the rebels favor.
