Summary

Nobuo gets on Vincenza's list of art clients in exchange for some dirty work.

Background

After wandering Seattle for a time, Nobuo's grown dissatisfied with the performance of his augmentations and looks to upgrade them. He heads to Henry Wallace's clinic, but the man is busy with far more high profile runners. He spots another person leaving the building, a Universal Omnitech surgeon he tried contacting before and catches her attention. She sees his true nature and understands what's going on. Intrigued by the potential of working on a drake, she orders her guards to capture him. He tries resisting out of a competitive desire, but gives in once he sees he's bested.

The Meet

Vincenza has the unconscious Nobuo transported to one of her operating theaters in Vancouver and offers him a chance to get access to her designs if he solves a fly in the ointment; a Shiawase corpo attempted to buy some of the territory her facilities were in -- she wouldn't mind it if he didn't wear obvious and revoltingly low-grade ware. Sephiroth agrees without much resistance, finding the chance to grow even more powerful appealing.

The Plan

After some initial scouting, the personafix has the mindset to go and analyze the security detail's movements in the target's gated community. Map software does not show the details of the area inside the walls, but he spots an ingress point from a tree with branches reaching over the wall, a gap in the asymmetrical patrol route of rotodrones and the three guards driving around on smaller carts. Come nightfall, he makes his move.

The Run

Testing barely noticed monowire for an electric charge, Nobuo's former corporate knowledge of Shiawase lets him cut all but one of the electrified monowires without triggering an alarm and vault over. With stealth and tracking ability, he sprints through the backyards and after a few attempts locates the correct house. The sliding backyard door is picked open in moments and he does a false knock on the front door to identify other people in the house. After confirming where the daughter is, he confronts the Shiawase corporate person himself. Stylizing himself as a main-company man sent to take him out as a 'liability' he promises to make the death clean and to keep his family out of it. The lack of any remorse or empathy in Sephiroth's eyes convinces the war veteran that he doesn't have much room to escape and he takes a seat on the floor, offering his neck. The Mantra of Light is quoted before his body is graciously covered by a blanket. The commlink is taken from him and Sephiroth runs for the exit after gently closing the backyard door in his wake. A spirit and the guards attempt to stop him once the biomonitor kicks off, but the samurai is deft enough to avoid the interception and vault over the wall, losing the pursuers in the city of Vancouver.

Aftermath

Vincenza's satisfied and gestures Nobuo to get on the operating table. His muscle groups are all ripped out and replaced from the ground up. Over three days pass by and the cyberware scan shows distinct Buddhist mantras inscribed into every bundle of muscle fibers. The art under his skin makes Sephiroth smile with satisfaction; even his titanium skeleton has poetic inscriptions and engravings, some of which he can faintly sense by brushing his scalp at times. It's invisible at a glance, but nevertheless representative of higher than average quality; something he can only improve on in the future.

Rewards

Vincenza (Connection 7 CEO/Cyberdoc) at Loyalty 1 - 7 RVP 40k nuyen towards upgrading ware to Alphaware (any remainder divide by 2 and add it as cash) up to availability 18 - 10 RVP 2 CDP

Sephiroth's After Action Report

"I find the doctor to be direct and not too fond of etiquette. She understands I'm above it. Good. She kept to her word and considers me more than an acquaintance. I am her project and so long as it gets me what I wish, I do not regret such a choice. The man accepted his death with dignity. I respect him, even when he is in his grave."
