Overview
Father Midnight is also known as Gallowgrey, the resident tomb spirit for Auburn's premium necroplex "Hotel of Graves" which boasts a foundation built by Stonehome Incorporated. It is here that Father Midnight toils eternally, wandering the necroplex's many floors with a single lantern and keeping vigil over the dead. While Grave Binding rituals have become commonplace in such prestigious locations and the bodies are utterly immune to necro spirit and shedim possession, grave robbers are far from uncommon in this day and age. Those that fail to pay their annual grave maintenance fees in time or seek to disrespect the dead are punished by Gallowgrey's temper with curse rituals and ill fortune.
The basement level of the Hotel of Graves is host to a small population of ghouls whom occasionally get to dine on the waste products thrown down the central pit of the tall necroplex; these are the byproducts of the necroplex's integrated mortuary services. It is coincidentally also where burglars are thrown, earning the Hotel of Graves and its tomb spirit an ill reputation among criminal circles.
Beyond this reputation, however, the Hotel of Graves' mortal staff is unaware of Father Midnight's less than legal dealings. In order to continue his growth, he offers to teach some shadowrunners the secrets of necromancy in exchange for karma and oaths to respect the honored dead. Gallowgrey either personally pays house visits to the runners he works with or sends a carcass spirit in a skeletal pigeon's body, carrying mission details on yellowed parchments. Coincidentally, this side gig also permits him to earn an income that aids the Hotel of Graves in remaining afloat despite the astronomical rent it has to pay for the plot of land it occupies.
