Character Information

Summary

A decker who avoids harming others, skilled with Forgery and Con. Has skills in the Biotech and Engineering skill groups. She drives an Ares Roadmaster with a forgery workshop and a Valkyrie module. She may do no harm, but she can get you into a mission, and has the skills to make sure you get out.

Goals

In the long, long, LONG term, she hopes to cheat death, seeking a way for people to leave their meat bodies behind for living in the matrix.

Short term, she wants to make a difference to people, to be remembered. She fears being forgotten.

Mid term goal? She is studying medicine, thinking 'street doc' might not be a bad backup plan if running goes south.

Other goals include getting more ware installed. She has some used parts that she'd like to replace.

Background

Anne's a SINLESS orphan, and has been on her own for a long time. She never knew her dad, and her mom is but a distant memory she can struggles to remember. She grew up living in trash, dumpster diving for food, and building things from stuff others had thrown away, things left behind and forgotten. Her shelter was a smashed up old van that she could sometimes get the battery going for some heat. She taught herself to read from tossed out books deemed obsolete, and was able to patch together a working commlink from a few different models. That allowed her to see beyond the trash to a wider world. She hit gold with an old cyberdeck with only a few bullet holes. That wider world had a lot of secrets, and was able to find a few. While hardly a runner, she was able to snoop around, pick up some dirt, and sell it as paydata. Nothing big, nothing to rock the world, but enough to buy her own food for the first time. It was a good feeling, and the setup for later. Things took a turn when an old man in a lab coat was in her favorite junkyard, muttering to himself. The forgetful old man had tossed out some medical tools he needed back, and didn't know where to look. The girl stepped in, and was able to help the old man find what he was looking for with relative ease. The girl handled it to him, talking of how it worked with more wisdom expected of a child. Impressed by her kindness and knowledge, the old man invited her back to his home. She'd live with the old man, James Bonku, as a ward, assistant, and occasional caretaker. He was a street doc who refused to retire, and needed more help than he was willing to admit (or perhaps pay for). She helped him in his day to day tasks, and she was able to get showers, health care, proper food, and a better education. Her teen years were spent in his company, learning much of his trade, while honing her own fixing his equipment. Among his secrets, she learned a bit of forging documents, as the old man helped forge birth certificates, among ID's. When he died, he left no will, and with a bit of work she was able to inherit most of his possessions, and they were far more considerable than she had realized. She saw to it that the old man was given proper rites; he had done right by her, and she would do the same. Debts should always be repaid. There's a small statue of him to mark his grave, and she visits often. His loss hurt, not only emotionally, but left her lifestyle up in the air. She debated trying to take over his practice, being a street doc, but she'd have to forge a lot of credentials, and she decided it wasn't worth the risk. With the money left to her and that from selling his practice, she had enough to live comfortably for a few years, decide what she wanted to do. Most of that time went to learning, reading up on medicine and debating whether she should follow the old man's lead. Yet dealing with death scared her, and she knew firsthand street docs saw a lot of death. Her fear of death, of being forgotten like so much scrap in the junkyards took her passion in a new direction: wanting to be remembered. At first, she dabbled in architecture, try to make something that would outlast her. But what if she didn't have to die? She researched the infected, and ghosts in the machines, following whatever lead she could find that could cheat death. In her mind, becoming a part of the matrix, the 'ghost in the machine' option was best, but it was so much rumor and speculation, with the facts hidden behind the big corps (or so the rumor mill suggested). When her funds started to run low, and her options few, she took the steps to become a shadowrunner, trying to liberate the data behind the corporations in hopes of finding a way to become one with the matrix, to never die. The last of her money went into buying her gear, such as her van and cyberdeck, which she adores. Knowing she can't just walk into a big corp on day one, she's going to do the 'little jobs' to learn how it's done in the real world, make some contacts, and ultimately, cheat death.  Her fake ID name of Jamie Bonku is a nod to her old master.

Narrative Significant Qualities

When not on the job, she has bright hair that stands out, and she changes it for missions.

She has the 'code of honor - like a boss' and avoids hurting others where she can, and her only weapon is unloaded dart rifle for her cons.
