Description
To call this structure massive would be a disservice. A monolithic spire bought from Yamatetsu as they sold some of their arkoblok holdings and became EVO, Genqo Pharmaceuticals has now made it their center of control. From the sea floor to the anchored oil platforms serving as a loading dock for both waterborne vessels and flights alike.
Inside, however, The Spire holds a new wave of design from the elegant Yamatetsu designs of yore. One of corporate greed and the slums that it literally builds itself off of.
Distinctive Features
THE SPIRE is split into several distinct regions, each with its own cultures and architectural styles.
Red
The base of the spire. A gigaslum of well over a million people imported from around the world and shoved down here to rot - all because they lost usefulness to the company or simply couldn't keep up with the culture and didn't have the money to pay for an out. Down here, the population density approaches that of Kowloon and most everyone is hungry for their next meal. Minimal light penetrates down from gold, and what light can be found is usually from a neon sign advertising the newest set at the local stripclub/brothel. What nutrition there is down here, you can be certain it's real, at least. Either stolen off the district's algae farms - one of the few jobs that Genqo will deign to give the mixers of Red - or hunted in the streets. Feral dogs, cats, rats, and all sorts of urban animals are plentiful should they have adapted to metahumanity's sprawls. Due to the anti-corp sentiment in the corporate megastructure, crime is rampant with no police force save the gangers to enforce any form of law. Were it not for everyone ready to mug everyone, it'd be a shadowrunner safe haven. Hells, it may very well be.
Gold
The business district. While the mix population density may be extreme, the spire actually thins out almost immediately. The only people who live on gold are the company janitorial staff and some of the city services. Many mixers see those who work on gold as class traitors for daring to serve the corps instead of living in their hellish anarchical free state. But despite the monocorporate oversight, several smaller subsidiaries operate here and there are plenty of independent businesses that stimulate the local economy. Just remember, it all pays back into Genqo
Green
The True Corporate Residential Zone. 'Servies' and 'Mixers' are rarely welcome up here except for simple jobs, and they always gotta be cleaned up. People who deign themselves important live in this largely open 'air' greenspace of the spire. Parks, theatres, cafes, even semi-detached homes and a small slice of suburbia can be found here, as well as more elite automotive centers.
Blue
Located in the shallower waters where light is still able to permeate the darkness above, Blue sees out into the beauty of the ocean all around it while enjoying simulated weather inside to maximize the comfort of all the Ultra Elite who live on this level. Megamansions, faux lakes complete with fish and pristine waters, opera houses, and artificial plots of land designed to look like an executive retreat adorn this multi-level monument to the 0.1%. Waterfalls cascade from lots into other suites, starting rivers that are seemingly instantly purified by the time the water leaves mere feet from its splashing white waters.
Violet
Only a rumour to most of those who live here, and truly known those ultra-wealthy corporate execs who live on blue. Violet is the military hub of the corporation, where they develop new combat stims and weapons equipment to test in the desert wars. Unfortunately, they lack the production capacity and staying power of the megas, but they are still a mighty little tower in the ocean.
The Transport tower
Rising out of the ocean is a sizeable dock - loading and offloading goods onto tankers, jets, and the occasional craft of tourists and immigrants.
Residents
PCs are welcome to move here, but must maintain a high or higher lifestyle to be able to afford transport permissions out of THE SPIRE. Your house can be wherever you wish in the spire, but Luxury must be on Green, Gold, or Blue. Blue can only sustain luxury lifestyles.
THE SPIRE JUDICIARY
Militant police force on most levels of the spire, often walking the streets in their standard issue Cavalier Champion in their holster and a Mossberg in their patrol vehicle, they know to stay out of Red and will deal with most any threats on Gold and Green before business security and personal bodyguards need to get involved.
STREET GANGS OF THE MIX
[will be fleshed out more in time]]
A little nooj goes a long way in the Mix
- Jesters Crown
Based out of the Jewel Mall in Red, the Jesters Crown is led by the rumoured vampire Jonah. The gang is largely teenagers, with all of them tend to be rocking jester hats over their hardware store piecemeal armour. Like most gangs in the mix, The Jesters Crown tends to be incredibly territorial, but their aggression can be bought off with the 100 nuyen toll when you enter the mall.
