Summary

After a run interrupted by a mysterious coffin in the Mojave, the corp Genqo decides to step up and press-gang the runner team for a job. Something was stolen from them, and Freydalia wants it back.

Background

Jonah of the Jester's Crown has stolen a data chip from Genqo, and with a digital scream from a mysterious black box in the desert allowing the corp to finally collect an old treasure, they can focus on their ganger issue.

The Meet

By the power of a small corp military showing up to get the box, a fuckload of guns being pointed at the runners, and a very tall woman with premium chrome from years ago, the party was told to get in the choppers and come for a ride.

Arriving at the spire, they were informed of the datachip they need to retrieve, as well as being given a hotel should they need it, and a brief run down on the issues in Red that the Genqo has.

The party accepts the deal with a 20k payday promise, and a bonus five up front.

The Plan

Well, the party did a ton of legwork, sussing out the culture and the way the city worked. But ultimately after meeting a few people, they decided to throw their dice and fly by the seat of their pants.

The Run

Winding up at Red's Finest after meeting a whole bunch of people, and a POGChat ad for it, the party finds out that Spire legend Mateo is present, and he's here today to meet with Jonah.

Red Ribbon has a look about the matrix for the club and finds that there's a safe under the bar.

Jonah and Mateo head into the backroom to discuss something, while Marrisa starts a drinking contest as a distraction. It works, and the bar tender suddenly has to deal with 12 people drinking a lot, right as Chameleon sneaks by wearing a full RPC cloak and being sneaky as hecc in a club environment.

They open the safe and nap the chip, making a run for the door.

Aftermath

The party gets out scratch-free as no one has noticed them and Pasiphae hauls the slightly drunk Marrisa out.

Red Ribbon reaches out to the mechanic lady she met who installed an anti-theft system on her hellhound and offers her a way out of the mix and the Spire all together.

She agrees, but with hesitation.

The party reports back to Freydalia and Genqo, and they're flown off-site back to Seattle with their toys.

Game Quotes

Player After Action Reports (AARs)

Chameleon: I thought I might have imposter syndrome but this run proved that it's not a syndrome. I've been touting myself as having good language skills. Yeah, right. When it was actually important to know a language how did it turn out? Ancient Sumerian 1, Chameleon 0. I've developed a new appreciation for hostile extractions now that I've been kidnapped. It's basic courtesy to provide food & water to the victim. Genqo Arcoblok - THE SPIRE is a wild place but Genqo corporation can eat my shorts & that slitch Freydalia gets the first bite. Speaking of bites, this is the second run in a row with a vampire encounter. This is not a good trend. Lets see now...I have roughly 6 hours of video of that coffin & its inscriptions...15 minutes of Freydalia in her office in the Spire....a whole matrix chock full of media outlets...

I need to arrange a get together with Marrisa, Pasiphae, and Red Ribbon. Maybe a dinner fit for royalty will make up for the reservation at the Bellevue Hotel that I made. MIX LYFE BABEE!!

Marrisa: Ominous Sumerian coffins radiating dread interrupting your run? Its more likely then you think! Not to happy about having this Genco show up and force me to work with them, nor being brought to an arcology without heavy demolitions equipment. Alas. The red district was... interesting, to say the least. A bit messy, but the culture was certainly nice. No one even tried to get handsy, which is normally a problem in red districts. Chameleon was quite helpful with talking to the people there, and Pasiphae was very much a sweetheart. And getting to ride in Red Ribbon's hellhound was a treat to enjoy.

Wait, did we ever let Mirabel out of the hellhound?

Red Ribbon: Gods, I hate corps. We work for them, that's just a fact of life, but I fragging hate them. I'm glad this went bloodless - nobody in that bar got shot up, got someone out of that arcology fine, and managed to leave ourselves... those are the victories in my book. I'm going to enjoy it if we ever negotiate with this Miss Freydalia from a position of proper leverage.

Oh, the rest of the runners? Great. Though Chameleon really stretched the definition of a "hotel."

Pasiphae: I really hate being kidnapped and spooky coffins especially the ones that scream, I really don't want to be anywhere close when they open that thing. But the rest of the run wasn't very eventful, really liked the hotel though. Even if the rest of my team were doing weird stuff on the public group chat they still did a good enough job that I don't have to do much.
