Summary

"Im a Deist, and a Shadowrunner. That means i know this whole World is so fucked up that even God turned his back on us.Now its our Duty to make him look at us again."

Lazarus is an oddity, even in the shadows. The almost 2m tall, one-armed orc, is not particularly pretty. His ochre skin reminds of the dirt of the streets, and his obvious cyber arm has made more than one passerby change the side of the road. However, once you start talking to him, you'll be pleasantly surprised. Behind the facade of the tough street samurai hides a well-read mind and a gifted speaker. He tries to hide his real purpose from strangers, too bad are the experiences he made after his rescue.

Background

"Our Names tell others who we are. Lazarus means "God has helped." Thats what happened to me."

Dorian grew up as a street kid in the Barrens. When he was old enough and had saved enough money, he made an effort to "move" to the orc underground to live a comparatively safe life there. The day of the move, however, was anything but a lucky day. His group was buried in a tunnel collapse, and most of them died in the first few days. Dorian himself was seriously injured, and in the end his left arm had to be amputated while still in the tunnel. At one point, only two people were left alive besides him: A priest and a cyberdoc, who couldn't stand each other. Dorian himself stuck to the cyberdoc during the first days, because he had saved his life by amputating and cauterizing the wound.

In the course of time, however, the cynical cyberdoc became more and more unsympathetic to him, and he conversed more often with the priest. Thus he got to know and appreciate the Christian religion and especially the story of St. Lazarus. The worse it was for him when they could be saved a few hours after the death of the priest. The cyberdoc took him under his wing, but Dorian was really enthusiastic only about the priest, who had shared all his supplies from the day of the collapse and in his eyes had died only because of it.

For the doc, Dorian was little more than a cheap temp, sometimes even more of a guinea pig. He equipped him with ever new cyber and bioware, which of course drove him deeper and deeper into his debt, and ultimately into the shadows.

When he finally managed to break away from his obligations with the Doc, he stayed in the shadows, just as the priest had stayed in the dark with him. From now on he called himself Lazarus, after the saint who had returned from the dead, and of whom the priest had told him so much.
