Serial Killer Still at Large

''"Senior investigative reporter Carly Reeves has uncovered evidence of an ongoing rash of slayings among the student population at the University of Washington, and of [[Knight Errant]]'s ongoing failures to catch the culprit.''

In the early hours of the morning of November 26th the body of Claire Rowe - a 19 year-old student at the University of Washington - was discovered in the music building by a custodian. Ms. Rowe was found decapitated in one of the sound-proof practice rooms, the fourth victim in an apparent series of gruesome killings which have plagued the campus and surrounding neighborhood for the past several weeks.

The lead investigator on the case - Detective Rebbeca Montez - declined to give an interview for this article, however through my contacts with the Knights I've managed to ascertain that until this last week the homicide department was dragging their feet on the matter; one source indicated that Lt. Montez even went so far as to hire outside contractors in order to assist with the investigation.

Perhaps dissatisfied with law enforcement's handling of the matter, Ms. Rowe's grieving parents have offered a fifty-thousand nuyen reward for information leading to the arrest of their daughter's killer. When reached for comment, the families of the previous victims similarly expressed condemnation at the complacency of both campus security and Knight Errant as well as hope that the murderer will soon be brought to justice.

At the risk of editorializing, one cannot help but wonder at the state of our city's police and draw parallels to the 'Mayan Cutter' case back in '72 - the failure of their predecessors in Lone Star to solve said case being one of the impetuses for then-Governor Brackhaven to revoke the Star's police services contract and grant it to KE. Perhaps Governor Darcy, who was endorsed by the University's board of trustees in last year's election and elected in part thanks to record-breaking grassroots support among the student population, will soon be faced with a similar choice.
