Summary
"Vic" a Seattle Staple Johnson is laying out some major cash on behalf of Or'zet Underground to begin the event recruiting season with a piece of talent acquisition. The Team needs to find and arrange a meet with local Sasquatch impressionist/comedian, Hairy Happy.
Background
Hairy Happy is getting older and breaking into some weirder versions of comedy, he's also more willing to use aspects of his awakened self that he had kept hidden for years in order to try it.
The Meet
Vic meets the runners at "Aces" a wannabe Ancients bar north of Tarislar just far enough to be safe but close enough to attract elf wannabees and the occasional awakened hanger on. Vic introduces himself to the runners and drops a white noise generator with his comcodes printed on it for the team.
Vic explains the situation and that he is working for Or'zet Underground, primarily and alludes that he is funded by a Big 10 Backer but advises everyone take that fact in stride because the money is good and it has nothing to do with recent trideo uploads. Vic convinces the team to go find the missing Sasquatch and convince him to take a meeting, preferably a favorable one.
Gigibit takes advantage of the deep pockets and asks for a separate compensation package, a major vehicle upgrade that the team may need to search out the target. Vic ultimately agrees, but does make it implicit at that point, that if the bonus package is up front pay the work had better be garaunteed.
The Plan
The team are given some basic info on where their quarry was last seen, as well as where they might find his agent. Shredder dips out for a small cybersurgery as soon as polite, and everyone else makes a light plan for legwork in town and moving forward from there.
The Run
Gigabite calls Fangwidth who makes incredibly short work of a matrix search on Harry's agent, Elmo Stubitz. Revealing the low rent talent agent has a dwindling client list, a protected condo in Touristville and an erratic work schedule. Zan Zan quickly performs an astral recon and finds a small wild spirit dwelling in Elmo's apartment space, but it won't come out immediately.
The team head across town to the apartment, paying basic etiquette checks to the troll guarding the front door of the complex and heading inside largely unarmed. Shredder's reputation and fame and Gigibite's cool demeanor convince Elmo, if vaguely threateningly, to open his door and let them inside. They proceed to somewhat threateningly make Elmo aware of the situation and "convince" him to give up more info. That Harry is unreachable in Los Angeles working on some experimental comedy. Zan Zan notices the same Spirit of Man that they saw earlier and coaxed a little more info from it. "Angelo and Hairy are going to the clown place..." the spirit announced, full of childlike wonder. Shredder does some Novacoke with Elmo to smooth over the situation and after leaving, Manashoe confirms via divination that while the target may be muddled, the answers they seek are in Los Angeles.
The gang considers it for a bit and decides on a road trip. Piling in to Gigibit's newly upgraded with and star studded Command Center with Manashoe behind, the gang leaves behind most of their illegal and restricted gear, stashing some knives and basic protections in storage compartments and takes to the North American highway system. Gigabite's SIn pops odd at the SCC/PCC border but a quick chat pushes it into rescan territory and they are allowed into the PCC under the guise of Celebrity Shopping Spree in Los Angeles.
Upon arriving in LA the characters quickly find a few places where comics will try experimental and avante guard work and begin scoping out the potential locations. Finding three potential locations, Amoeba Records, Emerald Dragon Lanes and Jumbo's Clown Room. Amoeba Records and Emerald Dragon Lanes both had shows going on Friday so the players decided to start on what was left of Sunset Blvd at Amoeba. Barely slipping the heighted security into an L.A. B zone the gang makes their way to Amoeba to buy tickets and then scope the place out. Shredder buys a classic fifth world artifact getting her some cred with the staff and a bonus to gathering additional info, when the gang find out one of the comics does sound strangely like Hairy.
The gang lays low in a coffee house in the Sunset district until nightfall and returns for the show. Manashoe's spirit confirms during the opening act that the target is backstage, more or less, and the team waits it out. Eventually a dwarf takes the stage and begins a routine similar to the jokes Hairy tells back in Seattle and things start to make sense. Zan Zan sorts out the Astral answer to the heart of the situation, cutting through the Dwarf's mask to reveal a possessed Sasquatch hiding underneath. The gang allows the "Dwarf" to finish his act, being piloted by a wild spirit of task to do the voice work through the Body Sculpted Sasquatch. Even going to so far as Gigabite throwing herself under the bus when it came time to do some heckling and crowd work.
After the show, ManaShoe caught the moment that the wild spirit left Hairy's body-sculpted body and determined a fact no one knew, Hairy is a Mystic Adept and has been quietly training his magical skills and connection to the spirit world for years. Gigabite and Shredder capitalize on the moment to slide in and let Hairy know they are onto his secret, and do not plan on outing him but do really think he should take the meeting. It takes some convincing and high stakes negotiation but eventually the Sasquatch is convinced so long as the team can convince Elmo to go for the brass ring on the deal.
A meeting it set and the bonus payment delivered in kind.
Aftermath
Hairy Happy is the first community Liason for Or'zet Underground 2085, and took the festival and Horizon to the cleaners negotiating his contract and a limited employment contract for Elmo on the side.
"Mac Garland" is likely done performing in Los Angeles.
Vic and the Or'Zet Underground promotions team are impressed with the team and willing to book all of them for future work.
Elmo is casually stalking Shredder online now and debating on offering a management contract. (+1 PA for Shredder)
