Summary

An elf from Tir Na Nog who SURGEd into a completely monochromatic man, now a Barrens Rat with dreams of grandeur - to own all of the Redmond Barrens - who runs to make ends meet and fuel that desire.

Build a "Barrens Castle" and sneak his parents across the big pond to live in it.

Background

Tir Na Nog, The Land of the Young, home of the elves, gleaming symbol of purity and beauty in the dark 6th world. And, in 2062, the birthplace of Ryan Callahan - a man whose existence defied this image, as he and his parents were homeless. Street scum who disgusted the elves, much of his early life was watching and being the subject of verbal and occasionally physical abuse alongside his parents due to being a pointy-eared reminder of reality in the land of the Tuatha De Danann. However, he was not alone as gutter-trash, finding those like him and having what could best be described as "friends". Friends who, among other things, helped him break into homes and steal shit, and, at the age of 18, helped him become a runner known as Luas - speed, named such due to his sweet bike and guts addiction he had developed rather quickly with the money from running meaning he nearly lacked fear all together.

He didn't last long, only managing to get a sweet aquatic quad bike in addition to his normal bike but no ware', as he and three others - a mage, a decker, and a face who are now all long dead - decided to take what was called a "milk run" at the age of 20. As everyone knows, that only means it was a gods-damned lie, as after a bit they found themselves in the midst of a mighty manastorm - milk run, clearly. The mage died from a lightning bolt blowing his ribs out of his chest, the other two had injuries that would kill them in the DocWagon, but Luas was able to manage but his colour wasn't. He SURGEd, becoming the monochromatic elf he is today, and had a vision (or hallucination, it is in the eyes of the beholder) of a "better" place across the sea: The Redmond Barrens. He knew that it was where he belonged, and that he needed to try and own it all, and so, finding the next boat trip to the UCAS, he snuck on and got prepared to find his "destiny".

Of course, destiny had other things in mind, as 90% of the way there, some extremely lost Crimson Crush turned up. How they ended up from the west coast to the east is lost to time, but they did see a boat with very pathetic security and took their shot, hijacking the boat and raiding it for everything they wanted. The elf, now titled Rainbow ironically, thought this was fuckin' sick but did nothing except hop off the boat on his aquatic quad bike, and head the rest of the way to Seattle. It was a long trip, but he managed, getting his bike immediately stolen when he landed in the Barrens - he knew he was in his spiritual home.

After 2 years of running, he got himself a home, a new bike, and a ticket to the ShadowHaven - he was going to own this terrible, terrible place, and become the Rat King. Or at least he sure thinks he will.

Narrative Significant Qualities

Positive

Class III Surge: The reason he's black and white, Rainbow is a Changeling with a variety of odd quirks.

- Bicardiac: Inside his chest beats two hearts in rhythm, allowing him inelven endurance and fortitude.
- Full Gills: Perhaps the manastorm he walked into felt kind, as these gills have saved his life before and they may again. Allowing him to breathe water and air all the same, these gills on the side of his neck aren't pretty, but they are      effective.
- Keen-Eared: Becoming more elven than before, his ears are rather sensitive and can hear pretty far, but are a tad bit longer than normal due to this.
- Metagenic Improvement (Agility): Another aspect of his elven form improved by the SURGE, Rainbow is more agile than others of his metatype, darting around with finesse and grace.

Bilingual: Fluent in both English and Sperethiel, Rainbow is from Tir Na Nog, where having both is almost a necessity, especially for the homeless.

Daredevil: The Barrens existence is core to him, and what is more Barrens than increasingly stupid and daring acts?

Negative

Class III Surge: Not all things were fantastic when he SURGEd, as a number of drawbacks came with the boons.

- Astral Hazing: Perhaps a nasty manastatic just stuck with him forever, or maybe he just got unlucky for his magical teammates, but he drains the colour from magic around him, reducing its power.
- Berserker: It's arguable whether or not this is because of the SURGE or the guts addiction, but regardless of the cause, Rainbow is prone to extremely violent outbursts on a whim.
- Bioluminescence: Despite lacking all colour, he glows minorly, perhaps to contrast with the dark, making BnE a bit more difficult for him. But don't let it be said he won't try regardless.
- Critter Spook: You have to face it, Rainbow looks fuckin' weird. And most critters agree, being frightened of him and quick to attack.
- Striking Skin Pigmentation: The big aspect of his SURGE, and the reason for the ironic name Rainbow, this elf's completely monochromatic. While his gear is just coloured to match, his skin's stuck on a pure black-to-white scale.
- Unusual Hair: Alongside his skin, his hair is also monochromatic, leaving Rainbow entirely black-and-white when he's wearing equipment he made match his normal colour scheme.

Moderate Addiction to Guts: Sometimes Rainbow shows fear - this is weakness to him. So, he takes Guts a fair bit, developing a bit of a dependency on it.

Distinctive Style: The man's fuckin' black and white, what do you want?

Driven (Buy And Own The Entirety Of The Redmond Barrens): Let it not be said Rainbow isn't ambitious, seeking to own the entirety of the Barrens. This, of course, makes little sense and is not at all reasonable to dream of, but by the Gods he'll try.

No Man Left Behind: The Barrens may have no honour, but in Rainbow's eyes, having honour in spite of that is ultimately the right call. He will not let fellow runners die on his watch.

Poor Self Control (Thrill Seeker): The Guts have a permanent effect on him, making him an extreme risk taker, yet again proving the Barrens is part of him despite being from the Tir.

Appearance

Rainbow is a young elven man, completely monochromatic, with middle length hair and extremely long ears. He's a rather muscular man, and would be another example of elven beauty if it wasn't for the lack of colour.

Clothing

Deciding to stick with what he has, his armoured trenchcoat (one which clearly reveals his bare chest) alongside every other thing he owns is fittingly monochromatic, making him look as if he walked out of a silent picture.
