Page Formatting Templates

These should be some of the most commonly used templates, they are not designed to be transcluded in pages. These templates are intended for users to copy and paste the source code when creating a new page. Their purpose is to establish and demonstrate the format for a page.

Contact

• Template:Contact
  • This is the basic template to be used when creating new run contacts. It is specially designed for ease of use.
• Template:AdvancedContact
  • An older version of the above. This version makes use of Template:Infobox directly, allowing more flexibility. For advanced users who wish to change something up from the default.

Player Character

• Template:Player Character
  • This is the template to be used when creating new run PC pages.

Run AAR

• Template:Run AAR
  • This is the template to be used when creating new run AARs.

Faction

• Template:Faction
  • This page is the template to be used when creating new Faction pages.

Host

• Template:Host
  • This page is the template to be used when creating new pre-made hosts for Category:Hosts

Location

• Template:Location
  • This page is the template to be used when creating new pre-made locations for Category:Locations

Metaplot

• Template:Metaplot
  • This page is a suggested template for the creation of new metaplot pages. Due to the nature of metaplots being so vastly different, this template may not necessarily work perfectly with every metaplot. As such, it should be altered as necessary when creating the page and explaining the metaplot.

News

• Template:News
  • This page is a suggested starting point for news articles; however, due to the freeform style of creating news articles, it is mostly just pointing to Template:NewsHeader.

CharacterPortal

• Template:CharacterPortal
  • This is intended to be used alongside with Template:Infobox Portal, showing an example of the correct formatting to create your own character portal. It should be placed on a user subpage. For example, if your wiki username is User:Teksura, it should be placed in User:Teksura/Character Portal.

These are templates intended to be used on some of the pages created above.

Rule Page Templates

• Template:Quality
  • Creates a standard format for custom qualities for a standard display on the wiki.
• Template:Spell
  • Creates a standard format for custom spells for a standard display on the wiki.
• Template:Drug
  • Creates a standard format for custom drugs for a standard display on the wiki.
• Template:Compound
  • Creates a standard format for custom compounds for a standard display on the wiki.

Character Page Templates

RunHistory

• Template:RunHistory
  • This template does several things when placed on a character page.
    • Generates a list of runs.
    • Checks to see if the character has had a run in the past 6 months, and if so, adds them to Category:Active Runners. This becomes important with another template below.
• Template:PregenRunHistory

ContactTable

• Template:ContactTable
  • This template generates a table for Template:HasContact to be nested inside. It is intended to be used on character pages.

HasContact

• Template:HasContact
  • This template will nest inside the table generated above, and will tag the contact using SemanticWiki markup so Template:ContactPlayerConnections will know to populate its table with the character's name, loyalty, and chips.
  • This template will also pull information from the contact page to populate the table.

GroupContactTable

• Template:GroupContactTable
  • Similar to the above Template:ContactTable, this template generates a table for Template:GroupContact to be nested inside.

GroupContact

• Template:GroupContact
  • This template will nest inside the table generated above, and will tag the group contact using SemanticWiki markup so Template:GroupContactPlayerConnections will know to populate its table with the character's name, position, and faction rep.

CDP

• Template:CDP
  • This template will count the number of times your runner has been tagged in an AAR since CDP was introduced into the Haven on December 11, 2019. It will multiply that number by 2 and allow you to add or subtract additional points from that number in order to keep track of your CDP on your character page.

Age

• Template:Age
  • This template takes the character's date of birth and compares it to today's date, outputting their current age. Also useful for Contact pages.

RealWorldTimeTrackers

• Template:InfectedPowers
  • This template takes the date of the character's first run and calculates the number of optional infected critter powers that character is able to buy.

• Template:Strain1EssenceTracker
  • This template uses some entered values plus the characters total runs in order to track a strain 1 infected current essence.

• Template:DrakePowers
  • This template takes the date of the character's first run and calculates the number of optional drake critter powers that character is able to buy.

• Template:IGTracker
  • This template takes the date of the character's first run and calculates the number of initiations that character qualifies for.

SearchTable

• Template:SearchTable
  • This template creates a pre-generated table for both matrix searches, and knowledge skills.

Guanyin Caution

• Template:Guanyin Caution
  • This template generates a small warning on the top of a page informing GMs that the character has the Guanyin Mentor Spirit.

Infobox Portal

• Template:Infobox Portal
  • A variant of the standard Template:Infobox which adds a character portal at the top of the page. Requires some special setting up and it is suggested that anyone intending to use this have some knowledge of mediawiki formatting. Otherwise, seek help from the wiki department.

Contact Page Templates

ContactDicepools

• Template:ContactDicepools
  • This template checks the Archetype set with SemanticWiki markup, and redirects to an appropriate template from Category:Dicepool Templates to display the dicepools for that particular Archetype. It also ensures the factbox shows up.

ContactInfobox

• Template:ContactInfobox
  • This template automatically feeds into Template:Infobox, applying appropriate semanticwiki tags. It has significantly less flexibility than using Template:Infobox directly, the format for which can be found at Template:AdvancedContact. However, it is designed for ease of use for new wiki users, rather than flexibility. Experienced wiki users may prefer to reference Template:AdvancedContact if they wish to do something different with the infobox.

Age

• Template:Age
  • This template takes the character's date of birth and compares it to today's date, outputting their current age. Also useful for Player Character pages.

ContactPlayerConnections

• Template:ContactPlayerConnections
  • This template, when placed on a contact page, will check Category:Active Runners for characters who have listed this contact on their character page using Template:ContactTable/Template:HasContact.

GroupContactPlayerConnections

• Template:GroupContactPlayerConnections
  • Similar to the above, but intended for group contacts. Will check Category:Active Runners for characters who have listed this group contact on their character page using Template:GroupContactTable/Template:GroupContact.

AspectTable

• Template:AspectTable
  • This template will generate a table on contact pages for Template:PositiveAspect and Template:NegativeAspect to be nested inside.

PositiveAspect

• Template:PositiveAspect
  • This template nests inside of the table generated above, and tags aspects for the contact using SemanticWiki markup.

NegativeAspect

• Template:NegativeAspect
  • This template functions identically to the above Template:PositiveAspect, only it makes the text red so it stands out as a negative aspect.

GenerateAspectList

• Template:GenerateAspectList
  • This template is intended to go in the infobox of contact pages, usually in the data19 field. It will automatically generate a list of aspects from the aspects tagged by Template:PositiveAspect/Template:NegativeAspect and display them.

ContactRuns

• Template:ContactRuns
  • Checks Category:Runs for AARs where the contact or organization has been tagged using the SemanticWiki markup SignificantNPC::, and generates a table showing all the major runs that help shape their story.

AAR Page Templates

AARInfobox

• Template:AARInfobox
  • Built to make filling out AAR infoboxes a little easier, it feeds information into Template:Infobox military conflict for us!

AARCharacterList

• Template:AARCharacterList
  • Intended to be used inside of Template:AARInfobox, this checks to see if involved characters are in Category:Player Characters. If so, it tags them with the SemanticWiki Property:HasRunner. Otherwise, it tags them with Property:SignificantNPC.

Gamequote

• Template:Gamequote
  • This just makes a really pretty box you can write game quotes in. That's it. That's all it does. Exciting.

Faction Templates

FactionInfobox

• Template:FactionInfobox
  • Template intended to simplify the process of setting up a faction infobox with appropriate SemanticWiki properties tagged.

FactionLocations

• Template:FactionLocations
  • Intended for use on faction pages, this template generates a list of important locations associated with the faction if any are listed in Category:Locations

FactionContacts

• Template:FactionContacts
  • Intended for use on faction pages, this template generates a list of contacts associated with the faction if any are listed in Category:Contacts

Miscellaneous Templates

Roundbox

• Template:Roundbox
  • This functions almost identical to Template:Gamequote, with a few key differences. Text is no longer forced to be centered, and the shading is slightly different. It is primarily used to add a customized notice at the top of a page, such as when multiple characters share the same name.

Redbox

• Template:Redbox
  • This functions almost identical to Template:Roundbox, with the only difference being now it has a red border, red text, and a dark black background. It is primarily used for big obvious "hey make sure you read this" notices and warnings on pages.

LocationRuns

• Template:LocationRuns
  • Checks Category:Runs for AARs where the location has been tagged using the SemanticWiki markup FeaturedLocation::, and generates a table showing all the major runs that feature the location.

Sign

• Template:Sign
  • Just adds a wiki-signature to runner comments that links back to the runners page.

ThisMonth

• Template:ThisMonth
  • Generates a list of runs and news articles for a given month. Intended for use on The Story So Far.

CategoryTemplate

• Template:CategoryTemplate
  • Just flags a page as being a part of Category:Templates, but only if it is actually in the Template namespace of the wiki. Useful for the page format templates, so people can copy the whole page without anything breaking if they neglect to remove the thing that flags the page as being a part of Category:Templates

NewsHeader

• Template:NewsHeader
  • Used in the creation of News articles. This template makes sure to tag things appropriately, ensures the article shows up on Category:News and The Story So Far, and enforces a few necessary wiki magic words.
