Summary

Party gets hired to steal a prototype that is to be exchanged inside of Dante's, and they opt to go loud on this one

Background

A very small Norwegian startup, Punnet, inc, went from near bankrupcy to be estimated in the hundreds of millions pretty much overnight, and for some reason this attracted the Ordo Maximus's attention. An exchange is scheduled to happen between representatives of the corporation and agents of the group that is seemingly bankrolling them, and the location is revealed to be the Seattle branch of Dante's.

The Meet

Cynthia Rochette invited the runners to meet at night in a public park. The original roster includes Tempest, Quinn, Cleaner Cleaner and Geodesic, but the latter two feel...quite uncomfortable for a multitude of reasons, first, they consider pulling a stunt inside of Dante's to be too risky, secondly, they find Cynthia to be not quite trustworthy, and lastly, they dislike the idea of working for the Ordo. Having lost the team's sniper, the two remaining decide to call upon Quill, a sniper they met in previous runs.

With the team reshuffled, some additional context is given. The prototype they are looking for is about 20 kilograms in weight, and expected to be in some sort of sealed container, like a briefcase or a backpack. This significantly narrows things down, but also adds the complication of it being highly fragile.

The run is to retrieve the object, with added bonuses in case they were to identify the organization paying for the prototype.

The Plan

Quinn does some matrix searching into the matter, and finds out that Punnett, inc as a corporation deals in genetics and genemodding of both metahumans and viruses. Their recent call to fame has been some flawed and not really economically viable, but still very impressive, research into awakened genetics, with genome sequencing procedures that they claim are able to precisely account for and quantify magical properties in the subject's biological matter.

Additionally, it is found that at the date there will be a birthday party in Purgatory, the second deepest level of Dante, highly secure and posssible to rent out for the night for very wealthy individuals, and the birthday boy is identified as Luca Faraci, son of the local mob's Consigliere.

Directly attemtping to identify the prototype and stealing it inside of Dante's proper is quickly discarded as a plan, with the team opting to map out points of exit instead, and laying an ambush on whoever is carrying what they suspect could be the target.

The Run

Heart of the Tempest gets inside of Dante, with the purpose of mapping out the structure, and look for any additional points of exit besides the singular entrance at street level. To do so, she wanders the premises a bit, carrying around a MAD scanner so that remotely Quinn can keep scanning for electronics, in an attempt to get lucky and maybe find the target in one of the less secure levels. Seeing this approach not producing much, she opts to go for the face route, and seduce a croupier, and convinces her to bring her to the hidden web of service tunnels and ways built around Dante's for some smooching. Once the unsuspecting Greed worker leaves, she tries to map out this network, and finds out that while it possesses secret entrances and exits, they all are connected to the lower levels, levels for which she currently has no access. Getting caught by a camera, through sheer charisma she saves faces by acting like a trophy wife trying to escape Lust to avoid being caught mid infidelity, and leaves the service tunnels, only for her to seduce ANOTHER worker, this time a dancer from Lust, and re-enter them with the same pretext. This time, her sneaking is more successful, and she finds two tunnels that lead to secret entrances for clients with the money for a preferencial treatment and reasons to let their night-time activities remain undiscovered. She maps the first one with her own fleshy body, coming out of some offices of an insurance firm, and the second one astrally, leading to a parking silo.

Silent Quill gets investigating on the latter, from aboard Quinn's flying boat, scanning through her sniper's scope for suspicious people entering and leaving. She does find something attention worthy, a Ford Americar, modded for a troll driver and made to look as unassuming and generic as possible, parked right next to the exit from the tunnel. To cover her bases, she shoots a tracking bullet on the vehicle, in case it does slip past her watchful gaze.

After a few hours, two suspects leave from the parking tunnel, an abnormally tall troll carrying a briefcase, and an hunched over bald human. After verifying the contents via a MAD scanner equipped drone parked nearby, that briefcase is indentifed as being, indeed, the target.

Then, the trap is sprung, with Quinn using alchemy to levitate the briefcase to avoid a fall that could damage the contents, and then Silent Quill and Heart of the Tempest unload bullets and spells alike to drop the troll as fast as possible. Their efforts, as valiant as they are, prove insufficient against the mutaqua adept, who in turn tries to fight off the banshee's astral form. Still, the team manages to drop both, the nosferatu lethally, and the mutaqua nonlethally. Given the noise produced, and the fact the police might be inbound, the team leaves without investigating the scene further, but sadly the mutaqua has been subjected to laes to delete any memories that could connect him to his organization.

Aftermath

The prototype is retrieved undamaged, and the mutaqua is brought to the Johnson for further interrogation. Still, she deems the primary objective archieved but not the secondary one.
