Despite this great start to her academic career, post-grad work became a horrifying struggle for survival. Too proud to go back to flipping burgers in the local fast food joint and fighting a shrinking job market, Cross started looking into underworld hosts for other sources of funding. What started as simple economics help for a fee for small time gangs evolved into part-time fixer operations for street runners. Now Dr. Cross has a second life eating her evenings away, keeping an eye on job boards and bounty tickers for the few runners she chooses to maintain.
