Summary
Runners get cold called to extract a corporate asset from the clutches of a local gang, who is requesting a hefty ransom of two hundred Spinrad Party Poppers. Some smooth talking and intimidation tactics results in a smooth operation.
Background
Kyra Samaras was captured by the Viper Kings after an expedition to the Redmond Barrens gone wrong. Sending out a distress call through a ransom message sent by the gang, she managed to contact both the Shadowhaven and SpinGlobal.
The Meet
An unorthodox cold call through the hijacked ransom message had the runners on the job almost immediately with Shadowhaven facilitating the team connecting.
The Plan
The runners, all fairly adept socially, elected to approach the situation head on after learning that Spinrad Party Poppers where a fake product (likely made to drum up investor interest in SpinGlobal). Negotiating with the gang holding Kyra first and going loud as a last resort (with a non-lethal priority at the behest of Kyra).
The Run
The team made their way to the location (a run down mechanic's shop) for the exchange during the evening and found that the gangers were not there. With the help of a friendly nature spirit the astrally projecting Invictus was guided to where the gang was for the evening, a two story building with a ward surrounding it. On the approach of the new spot the runners spotted an insignia which Gilgamesh clocked as the markings of a minor gang called the Viper Kings.
Arriving at the new spot Shredder takes to a nearby apartment complex acting as a watchdog from the rooftops and potentially backup by gliding in via wingsuit. Invictus, taking the lead, begins to talk to a gang member outside of the house buying some novacoke before inquiring about the corporate scientest the Viper Kings are holding. With some negotiating Gilgamesh and Invictus are invited inside and manage to convince the Viper Kings that Spinrad Party Poppers are in fact not a real product.
Gilgamesh alone is allowed to see Kyra and along with the team negotiates pay. The team informs the Viper Kings that they are likely the best deal they are going to get before SpingGlobal HTR arrives at the scene. The Viper Kings are not happy but are convinced and allow Kyra to be let go with a now reduced 5,000 nuyen bounty. Upon leaving the scene Shredder wingsuits in to join the rest of the team, intimidating Kyra upon her arrival revealing some history between Shredder and SpinGlobal.
Kyra now disheveled and scared of her would be rescuers pays the runners at a bank, formally ending the impromptu rescue.
Aftermath
Kyra was successfully extracted and the Viper Kings live to deal another day, 5k nuyen richer.
