Summary

A gang called the Halloweeners are hosting a scavenger hunt. Unfortunately, they were not the only individuals on a hunt. Runners are called in to complete the scavenger hunt and hopefully find any survivors.

Background

Halloweeners are hosting a scavenger hunt as it is the month of spooks. All around Seattle, they are placing certain items around inviting individuals to search for them. Upon the docks of Tacoma, a bell has been hidden away. Yet they are not the only ones to draw attention to this area. A growing urban legend seems to have made its residence around the area - an unknown woman dubbed The Tacoma Temptress.

The Meet

Tempest, John, and Chameleon arrive on scene, responding to the scavenger hunt sent by a Halloweener named Jacko. He informs the three of the item they must seek, a small bell that is somewhere in the area of the docks, before asking for a favor he's willing to pay for. Two of his buddies haven't returned, and he seems to be under the impression it is due to a creature in the area known as the Tacoma Temptress. Apparently she makes this area her hunting ground, and he's willing to pay the runners if they're able to find one or both of his buddies. Preferably alive.

Hopping on his bike and driving off, the three discuss what they know. Tempest states that it's likely an Infected, her reasoning for this belief being that she, too, is Infected. John goes to get a few beers while Chameleon draws up a plan.

The Plan

Chameleon and John would act as bait while Tempest lay in ambush while invisible. Once the slasher was spotted, Tempest would incapacitate them and extract the information of where the two Halloweener victims are. After that, the three would recover them and go to find the bell, completing the scavenger hunt and getting paid for it.

The Run

As John and Chameleon walked through the dockside, with Tempest hiding in the shadows invisible, the three scanned around them for who it could be. If they were indeed Infected, then Chameleon and Tempest's astral sight would allow them to spot their astral aura and assense to confirm. Surprisingly, it was John who spotted the target, with his mundane eyes noticing a woman turn the corner, shortly followed by yet another woman who seemed suspicious. Pointing this out to the others on DNI, Tempest was able to ascertain that this was the target.

Following after her, Tempest gave them one chance to surrender. Initially this seemed to cow the Temptress, but soon enough it attempted to attack the Infected runner as it shifted to its true form. John and Chameleon decided to watch the fight, sharing a beer with confidence that Tempest could deal with the threat alone. Tempest indeed could deal with the threat alone, turning the hunter into the hunted, and soon enough incapacitating them. Probing the monster's mind, they learn one of the Halloweeners died, while the other got away. Chameleon is able to use this information to place them roughly on a map. As Tempest went to drain the essence of the Tacoma Temptress, the two went to the area to find both the remains and the surviving individual.

Chameleon patched up the survivor and put the deceased in his car's trunk, Tempest arriving shortly after with her being done feeding; all that awaits is finding the bell. Asking the Halloweener, he tells the three that it's on Dock 13, and with a clever use of a mirror (and Chameleon being held upside down to position the mirror) and levitation, the diving bell is collected and the scavenger hunt at the Tacoma docks is finished. Heading back to the meeting point, they inform Jacko of the events as well as deliver both the bell and the missing Halloweeners.

Aftermath

With a job well done, the crew share a couple of cigars and make their way off, three thousand nuyen richer.
