Summary
Summary
The runners knew that their contact, SignificantNPC::Legal Eagle, was at Seattle Children's Hospital with Shark who was the new father of five children, born yesterday.

A mysterious johnson met the runners on the matrix, and asked them to kidnap SignificantNPC::'Princess' Rosemary in the middle of her wedding to Prince Dunkel.  She needed to be kidnapped on camera during the ceremony.  The runners were hesitant to deliver any woman into the hands of what might be a stalker.  They negotiated that they would bring her to the meet-up point and insist that she then have a right to decide what happened next.  If she wanted to leave the johnson's presence, the runners would help her do so.  The johnson did not object to this stipulation.
The children had disappeared. Kidnapped?

The runners made a plan to more quietly kidnap her prior to the ceremony itself, and substituted a disguised Moth who was able to impersonate her.  The staged a kidnapping of the unwilling bride during the ceremony, and were able to get away clean by simply removing their disguises.  The guards were looking for SignificantNPC::'Princess' Rosemary.  She was already outside the building.

They drove as fast as they could north, with a mana barrier to prevent the sprites from chasing.

However, when they called the johnson to arrange the meet, the burner phone rang in the unconscious woman's pocket.

They kept driving, now certain that she was the johnson.

Eventually she woke and confirmed it.  She truly did want to escape the marriage.  She'd rather fake her kidnapping and death.  The kidnapping was done, and the runners delivered her to a safehouse provided by Moth.  Mission complete.

The runners needed to recover the children, while avoiding causing harm to a children's hospital.

Background
Background
Shark had five children, three boys and two girls.  They were born the day prior.  They were in the NICU last seen at 9:15 am.  They were discovered missing at 10:00 am.

Trash Panda was particularly familiar with the history of Horizon's popular Bachelor Royalty trid reality show. In this latest season, SignificantNPC::'Princess' Rosemary won challenge after challenge, and ultimately the marriage to Prince Dunkel. However, Trash Panda had watched closely and wasn't sure her heart was entirely in it. It was almost like circumstances kept contriving to give her the win.
The hospital was on code pink for apparently missing children. Security would be heightened.

Regardless, the wedding was the media event of the year.
To add to the tension, there were news trucks covering that an ex-convict Thomas Green was at the neighboring hospital (Seattle University) to donate a kidney.  He had a reputation for making bombs and blowing up buildings.

The Meet
The Meet
There was no time to lose.  The runners made their way to Seattle Children's Hospital to meet SignificantNPC::Legal Eagle out front.

The runners were a little suspicious to have to meet in the matrix. And then increasingly concerned. This man dressed as the phantom of the opera indicated that he wanted SignificantNPC::'Princess' Rosemary abducted during her wedding. He didn't want anyone hurt. That was good. But it didn't seem like she would want to go with him. The runners were uncomfortable with the possibility of handing a woman over into some sort of creepy slavery with some stalker.
It was a matter of missing newborns. The runners agreed to help.

They insisted that they would only do it if the johnson agreed that SignificantNPC::'Princess' Rosemary would have the ultimate say in her fate. They would interrupt her wedding and bring her to him. But what happened next had to be up to her. They would help her leave if she did not want to remain with the johnson.

The johnson agreed to that.

He also provided the intinerary for the event, and an offer to help keep guards away from her during the kidnapping if needed.

SignificantNPC::Legal Eagle asked them to stay away from room 412 where Shark and his wife were.  Shark was very upset, and arguing with hospital administrators.

Initial prep included:
* Glamor summoned a powerful spirit to search for the children.
* Shade hacked into the system to study the NICU cameras.  This provided useful information about which staff were present, and their names and appearances.  But it became clear that some other technomancer was in the system, and had altered the footage so it looked like all five children were still present in the NICU.
* Moth began to work on disguises, to match SINs provided by Legal Eagle (two doctors, one orderly, and one security guard.)  Moth and Glamor took doctor SINs.  Slinger took the security guard.  Vichnozeleny took the orderly.
* Glamor made Vichnozeleny invisible.
* Slinger prepared alchemical potions, including heals and agility boosts.

The Plan
The Plan
The team quickly realized that the babies had been separated.

The team moved to a nice hotel room to plan, courtesy of Moth.
The spirit found a first child in the Day Care area.

Shiro gathered useful information about the venue.
They planned to try to stay as subtle and quiet as they could, with a goal to cause no harm to the hospital or the innocent people there.

First, they needed reasons to be there that would get them past security.
They planned to look for leads to find the remaining children in the NICU area.

Moth would play two roles. First, she would get on-site as the make-up and hair artist preparing the princess for her big day. The hotel had outsourced beauty staff, and Moth's papa used the same company. He was able to call in favors and get her the role, legitimately. She was very skilled with hair and make-up from her own work with disguise. Standing behind the princess doing her hair gave her the best access to hitting her with the neurostun patch and knocking her out.

They planned for Trash Panda to pretend to be a member of the maintenance staff. That would give her freedom to move around and - crucially - sneak the unconscious princess out in a laundry cart.
The Run
Vichnozeleny invisibly scouted the NICU, and found some background information but no sign of the children. However, Glamor's spirit revealed that there was a baby there. The team began to realize there must be some kind magic or other disguise at work. Vic relayed that there was one nurse and one security guard present.
Then, Moth would take on the role of the princess through the kidnapping.

Trash Panda would distract the magical security, and play a critical role in transforming the wedding dress so it could not be recognized with a fashion spell, and in magically scrubbing Itako's magical aura.

Itako would play the role of the kidnapper. Swooping down from one balcony on a line shot from a grappling gun, grabbing the princess (Moth), and swinging them up to the opposite balcony where they would slip out of line of sight, swap disguises, and then be able to leave - clearly not the people sought.
Glamor studied the Day Care area, and detected an invisible person - of an infant size.  A large pram that could be used to transport infants was also suspiciously parked outside the Day Care area. Moth, disguised as a doctor, used her acting skill to walk over and scoop up the invisible child without drawing too much attention.  The child was starting to cry, but she was able to soothe him, and get him out to the pram, where they strapped him in, and headed to the NICU to investigate the spirit's report that there was a child there also.

Shiro had the critical roll of keeping an eye on the cameras if anything went wrong, and of hacking the system to make sure the targeted balcony would be empty. She changed it to reserved for cameras and a fictitious group.
The spirit identified that the child in the NICU was in a different bed than expected.  And curiously unrecognizable.  It looked like a human child at first.  White skin.  But the team realized that it was an orc baby, just with skin of an unexpected pigment.  What could that mean?  Why would someone do that?  But then they noticed that when the child cried, his skin turned red.  Some kind of adept!

But the child was well guarded.  The guard questioned why they would be taking a baby during a code pink.  Glamor helped convince the guard, while Moth did some fast talking.  The guard settled enough that they had the babe in arms.  But then there was a security alert.  A code violet.  Shade, who had remained in the car, monitoring the DNI, was able to quickly confirm that was a violent individual threatening harm, and hack out into news feeds to get some of the details.  The team learned of the ex-con arriving for the kidney donation.  Was he the violent individual?  The other possibility was the very angry Shark.  Moth did some more fast talking, making it clear that it was safe to take the baby for an urgent medical procedure during a code violet because Slinger - who was disguised as a guard - was with them to guard.  The guard relented.

They had two babies in the pram.  And more questions than answers.

The Run
Fearing that Shark was in trouble, Glamor tracked him with a description of his shoes, and learned he was apparently smoking outside.  Glamor and Vichnozeleny went to talk to him, while Moth and Slinger watched the two children inside the hospital.  Shark was not involved in anything violent.  He was glad to learn two of the children had been found.  He agreed that he wanted the children found returned to him in his room (412).  Since this was a variation from SignificantNPC::Legal Eagle's plan, the runners checked with him, and then delivered the two children.

SignificantNPC::'Princess' Rosemary brought her maid of honor and mother to her hair and make-up appointment. Moth conned the maid of honor to leave to get more hair spray. She waited until the mother criticized her work and then through a temperamental fit, typical of an artist of the caliber to land this assignment, and convinced the princess to send her mother away since she was distracting the process. The mother was convinced to go check on her husband, and Moth told her she'd be done and gone before she got back, as if glad to avoid her.
They needed more leads to find the other three children.

As soon as the mother left, and Trash Panda confirmed she was in place with the laundry cart, Moth managed to get the neurostun patch on the unwitting bride. She was unconscious. They got her in the laundry cart, and Trash Panda was able to wheel her out to the car without anyone noticing.
Shade tried to find the technomancer who had been on the matrix before, modifying the camera footage. It appeared they were no longer actively on the matrix.

Moth was able to convince the maid of honor when she returned, and was led back to the bride's room. She was soon all dressed in the gown, taking some last pictures before the ceremony.  But, curiously, she found a knife hidden inside a hidden pocket of the wedding dress.  What had the princess been planning?
Vichnozeleny continued to search invisibly, looking for any clue.  They found a pram outside of Immunology.  Shade checked the cameras and there was a babe in there, being held by a person in a lab coat.  Was this a kidnapper?  They were about to inject the child with a shot. Moth and Vichnozeleny came in and Moth fast talked the lab tech into stopping the injection, and giving them the babe.  The child appeared to have been mixed up with another child from room 602. But it was clearly one of the missing orc babes.

Itako got in place on the opposite balcony.
Glamor instructed its spirit to find the person who made the child in the Day Care area invisible.  The spirit found them on the roof.

Moth walked down the aisle with the princess' father. Her own papa, a guest in the audience, didn't recognize her.
Glamor and Slinger headed straight for the roof.  Shade flew up there from their car.  Vichnozeleny followed quickly. Moth followed more slowly, stopping to drop off the babe with its parents.

It was time for the ceremony to begin. They turned to Moth and indicated that the princess had planned to open the ceremony with a song. She was a good singer, but had no idea what song was planned!
Shade could see there was just another orc babe on the roof, visible.  The others were stopped by a locked door. They realized a team of security was coming up the stairs at quick pace, talking about a code black - a bomb threat - apparently to investigate on the roof.  The runners were trapped between the locked door and the incoming security team.

Happily, everything planned happened at that point.
Moth caught up in time to fast talk the guards into investigating a mysterious individual on the 11th floor (a lie), and they went racing off to do so.  She got up to the locked door, and opened it for the team.

Trash Panda distracted the magical security with an amazing impression of a son of man spirit.
The babe, it soon became clear, was a magician of some kind and had summoned a beast spirit who was guarding it.  Shade and Glamor talked to the beast spirit, and got it settled down that the runners meant no harm, and were just trying to reunite the children with their parents.  The beast spirit revealed that it had seen, from the roof, the 5th child being taken by a woman to the second hospital where the ex-convict was scheduled for surgery.

Itako made the grapple gun shot, and swooped down.
The runners dropped off babe #4, and hurried towards the second hospital, using the skybridge connecting the two buildings.

Moth made it look like she was utterly surprised, and yet also managed to back right into the right place to be easily scooped up by a slightly off target swooping.
Glamor's spirit confirmed the fifth child was in the Head of Medicine's office.

They made it to the opposite balcony. They stowed the grapple gun in the invisibility cloak, and the spirit changed their clothes. Moth swapped the princess synthskin face for the make-up artist face. Just two guests out of place on the stairwell to makeout. Weddings are romantic like that. The physical guards were fooled and raced past to find the princess and her kidnapper.
Glamor sent ahead a spirit to look for the bomb, and realized it was also in the Head of Medicine's office.  Uh oh.  The spirit had been instructed to find and defuse the bomb.  It reported that it was fighting a man. Thomas Green - the ex-con. The spirit reported that the man was threatening that if he died, the bomb would go off. The spirit was able to engulf him and knock him unconscious without killing him.  The runners arrived.  Shade confirmed the bomb harness could be safely removed from his body, and removed it.  Vichnozeleny restrained the unconscious man.  Slinger used his alchemical healing to stabilize him.

Everyone made it to the car and they had a clean get away.
Moth found the babe hiding in an ajar wall safe.  There was no sign of the woman that had brought the babe here.

The team alerted security (anonymously) that the bomber was unconscious and separated from his make-shift bomb in the Head of Medicine's office.

But a technomancer was trying to hack into Shade.  Another threat?  Shade traced it to the fifth babe.  This one was a technomancer!  The same one likely that altered the footage in the NICU, instinctively.

Aftermath
Aftermath
Shark and his wife were very glad to have their five children back, and they update that there was an adept, a magician, and a technomancer among them.

They were driving hard, fast as they could, and called the Johnson. And the Johnson's burner phone rang in the unconscious woman's pocket.  Uh oh.  Was she the Johnson?
SignificantNPC::Legal Eagle was glad the children were recovered, though slightly vexed that the team had made contact with Shark during the run, despite the request to not do so. But Moth convinced him it was the right thing to do for Shark's safety, when they feared he was the source of the code violet.

Moth kept driving and Trash Panda and Itako sat on either side of the princess, ready to interrogate her when she woke up.
The runners got paid, and Shark realized he was going to need some very special baby-sitters in the future.

Sure enough, she was the Johnson.  And glad the job was done.

Now she wanted a safe house, and a chance to re-group and make plans to fake her own death.  A story for another day.

There was no kidnapping plot.  Just very talented smart babes getting into instinctive mischief.

But the presence of the runners did address a serious security concern in the ex-convict suicide bomber.  Good thing they were there to save the day!

Moth here.  This was my sixteenth run.  A  good team.  I am always glad to help a person in trouble.  I was really glad how committed this team was to doing the job carefully and quietly, and not causing mayhem and harm at a children's hospital.

Moth here.  This is run #14 for me.
I spent a surprising amount of this run holding babies and soothing them. I seem to have a knack for it!  That's one run walking down the aisle in a wedding dress, and one run soothing newborn babes. Is my papa, my fixer, hinting that he wants grandchildren??

I have lots of thoughts about this one.  First, what a great team.  Trash Panda, Itako, and Shiro are first rate.  Good plan - just the right mix of thoughtful planning and panache.

But this was a bit of an emotional roller coaster.  Was the Johnson some horrible creepy stalker villain?  Were we going to ruin a woman's wedding day? What a relief that she did not want to go through with it, and was desperate to be rescued.  Desperate enough to hire us!  Desperate enough to have a poisoned knife ready if we failed.

But man, I keep thinking about her papa.  He walked me down the aisle.  He seemed to care about her.  He thinks she's been kidnapped.  He's going to think she's dead.  That's a tough one.

And there was my papa in the audience.  And me in a wedding dress.  And just thinking about my life, and what I might want, and what it would be like to walk down the aisle for real.  I can imagine myself getting married now.  Ah, my heart!
As ever, there were some good moments for disguise, fast talk, and keen eyes. But, unusually, I was the only person who could locksmith. A good thing, I could. So, all in all, a job well done.

Still, I think I really did my part on this one.  Lots of impersonation and disguise.  I pulled off two roles.  Even her father didn't realize it was me, and not her.
I invited everyone back to my house afterwards for a party to celebrate.

And now the news just keeps playing that kidnapping!  The daring swoop by the blurred figure.  And the woman who looks like her, but I know it's me!  I'm famous, but no one will (hopefully) ever know it was me.
Glamor
<br />
That... was interesting. I have quite the headache from summoning so many powerful spirits. At least we saved all the babies (from themselves apparently) and stopped the bombing.

Shiro Hime
Vichnozeleny
Evergreen reporting in, log number eighty-two. Target was infant quintuplets. Missing, presumed kidnapped. I have to make a note for the sheer utility that invisibility spells offer. Despite leaving all of my equipment behind for a clandestine disguise, I managed to easily maneuver around a crowded hospital without ever being caught. Had to break confidentiality to ensure key details at one point, but if it gets the job done, so be it. Things don't always go as planned, the Monolith knows it to be true. I never saw a single kid in the Zone. I'd almost forgotten how adorable they were. Seeing those kids fooling around without a worry in the world took a lot out of me. On one hand, it feels nice to actually hurt so much that it becomes physical. On the other hand, I might've wanted to stay in the Brain Scorcher if I'd remembered this is what it felt like.

This Run had an intresting start and the and to think the Johnson was the target was quite a thing she could have told us from the beginning that would have made things a lot smoother. I dislike celebs and their drama but the money was good so I got that going for me which is nice.
We got the kids safely to their parents. That's something to be proud of, I suppose. I can't say I feel much of it, but I know it's something I should feel good about. Knowing it will have to do as a replacement for feeling it.

Summary

The runners knew that their contact, Legal Eagle, was at Seattle Children's Hospital with Shark who was the new father of five children, born yesterday.

The children had disappeared. Kidnapped?

The runners needed to recover the children, while avoiding causing harm to a children's hospital.

Background

Shark had five children, three boys and two girls. They were born the day prior. They were in the NICU last seen at 9:15 am. They were discovered missing at 10:00 am.

The hospital was on code pink for apparently missing children. Security would be heightened.

The Meet

There was no time to lose. The runners made their way to Seattle Children's Hospital to meet Legal Eagle out front.

It was a matter of missing newborns. The runners agreed to help.

Legal Eagle asked them to stay away from room 412 where Shark and his wife were. Shark was very upset, and arguing with hospital administrators.

Initial prep included:

 • Glamor summoned a powerful spirit to search for the children.
 • Shade hacked into the system to study the NICU cameras. This provided useful information about which staff were present, and their names and appearances. But it became clear that some other technomancer was in the system, and had altered the footage so it looked like all five children were still present in the NICU.
 • Moth began to work on disguises, to match SINs provided by Legal Eagle (two doctors, one orderly, and one security guard.) Moth and Glamor took doctor SINs. Slinger took the security guard. Vichnozeleny took the orderly.
 • Glamor made Vichnozeleny invisible.
 • Slinger prepared alchemical potions, including heals and agility boosts.

The team quickly realized that the babies had been separated.

The spirit found a first child in the Day Care area.

They planned to try to stay as subtle and quiet as they could, with a goal to cause no harm to the hospital or the innocent people there.

They planned to look for leads to find the remaining children in the NICU area.

Vichnozeleny invisibly scouted the NICU, and found some background information but no sign of the children. However, Glamor's spirit revealed that there was a baby there.

Aftermath

Shark and his wife were very glad to have their five children back, and they update that there was an adept, a magician, and a technomancer among them.

Legal Eagle was glad the children were recovered, though slightly vexed that the team had made contact with Shark during the run, despite the request to not do so. But Moth convinced him it was the right thing to do for Shark's safety, when they feared he was the source of the code violet.

The runners got paid, and Shark realized he was going to need some very special baby-sitters in the future.

There was no kidnapping plot. Just very talented smart babes getting into instinctive mischief.

But the presence of the runners did address a serious security concern in the ex-convict suicide bomber. Good thing they were there to save the day!

Moth

Moth here. This was my sixteenth run. A good team. I am always glad to help a person in trouble. I was really glad how committed this team was to doing the job carefully and quietly, and not causing mayhem and harm at a children's hospital.

I spent a surprising amount of this run holding babies and soothing them. I seem to have a knack for it! That's one run walking down the aisle in a wedding dress, and one run soothing newborn babes. Is my papa, my fixer, hinting that he wants grandchildren??

As ever, there were some good moments for disguise, fast talk, and keen eyes. But, unusually, I was the only person who could locksmith. A good thing, I could. So, all in all, a job well done.

I invited everyone back to my house afterwards for a party to celebrate.

Glamor

That... was interesting. I have quite the headache from summoning so many powerful spirits. At least we saved all the babies (from themselves apparently) and stopped the bombing.

We got the kids safely to their parents. That's something to be proud of, I suppose. I can't say I feel much of it, but I know it's something I should feel good about. Knowing it will have to do as a replacement for feeling it.
