Style Guide!
Style
My runs, while they vary on mohawk to trench coat, are all about the thematics of the run. Depending on what is posted, one should acknowledge that any themes posted will be leaned into heavily. I like horror, I like goofy, and I like slice-of-life milk runs. I will take a theme for an idea and 'run with it.'
New to Shadowrun
I used to run a shadowrun home game, where things kinda went kerputzed because I had too grand ideas about what an overarching plot should be. Thankfully! Here in an LC I don't have to worry about that. That said, I'm not good with the matrix yet, and I am still learning all the nuances to magic.
I hope that this wont dissuade people from picking up my runs, but will help them be a lot more tolerant of someone learning the other half of this 'really' complex system.
Pick Policy
Here are the three tenants to me picking
- 1 New players deserve the opportunity to play. They always come first
- 2 My table is a roleplay-friendly space, I will pick 'characters' not dice pools.
- 3 The matrix scares me, and as a result I will likely only pick for a matrix role if the person is okay with hand-holding me through the rules.
Declining the Meet
If you know going in that your character isn't going to take the job, don't apply. If they 'wont without a little bit of convincing', then by all means. Just have someone ready to take your place should you drop out, and I will do my best to adjust the run to the party's strengths.
Realism
Depending on the level of trenchcoat to mohawk, realism may take the sidelines for rule of cool. But if it's a black trench coat run, please expect that while rooting for the players, I will be a hardass about realism.
This will be a benefit and a detriment to the party depending.
Failure
Failure tells stories. I am a firm believer in this. That said, I don't want to fuck over players utterly over things that were minor, nor do I want to ever kill a PC.
Mostly because there are worse things than death.
Runs
I just stole this from Sleevey, Archtmag, Ed, and Fangblade_! (Hell, I stole the entire style guide from fangblade. With permission of course.) Thank you all for your continued work on the Haven!
