Summary

A seemingly routine call to investigate disappearances in the midst of a failed ambush leads to a realization that something far more... horrifying has arrived.

Background

In the midst of a rapid string of disappearances of Red Vory members. Said Red Vory issues an ambush to stop the so call disappearances in Auburn. Since the ambush has gone silent, runners have been called to help assist the matter. Whilst the past creeps ever closer towards one of the runners in particular.

The Meet

The runners unite at a recently closed down bar in southern Downtown. The Johnson informing them of the disappearances. Indicating something has been hunting down Red Vory members and they need to find out WHAT. Offering a decent pay upfront but avid convincing from the runners ups the price just a bit more. With payment acquired, the runners set off to deal with the matter. But not first without some reconnaissance.

The Plan

Looking through the lens of drones and the Matrix, Espada and Perdix investigate the matter. Figuring out the exact location to be close towards a lake bordering the Puyallup border. Camera feeds indicating the Red Vory carrying higher grade weapons, armor, vehicles, and general equipment than they usually do. However, upon arriving near the location, the camera feeds cut out. Roughly for a period of 2 hours before what is revealed is a massacre near a local parking garage. Every member of the Red Vory left dismembered, or their neck snapped, or decapitated. The results varying immensely. Upon further gaze and scrutiny. It is revealed that some of the bodies... twitch.

Peering into that suspicious matter further, Sea Shepherd sent forward a spirit of her own to investigate. Only for that spirit to be disrupted via... whatever it is that lurked there. However, upon what little information that was sent via the spirit and general hints reveals the horror of what lie ahead. Shedim, powerful "cousins" of Shadow Spirits that possess the bodies of the deceased. Attracted to areas of intense negative emotion and often carnage/death given their abilities.

With this knowledge in toe the runners prepare accordingly. Taking the best equipment each of them have and Perdix devising a chemical warfare agent designed to rapidly disintegrate organic/living matter in an attempt to destroy the bodies they can possess. With everything prepared the runners set off to fight the Shedim and hopefully figure out what has transpired at the parking garage.

The Run

Upon arriving the runners broke into stealth. Able to get off their grenades before the Shedim rapidly responded. The spirits powers devastating but thanks to proper preparation they were left to use only the weapons utilized by the Vory. Unfortunately for the runners though, those weapons would still be devastating still. Tsarina nearly falling. Exodus badly wounded, and unfortunately despite the valiant efforts of Espada, his drone and deck were torn apart by the barrage of APDS. Leaving him without an anchor point, now one with the matrix once again.

The end results were complicated. The shedim were left without bodies to inhabit. But alas they still managed to get away. None of the runners wishing to risk astral combat against them. After attempts to repair Espada's drone and deck fell in vain. The runners looked through the commlinks to figure what they could figure out what happened here fully. Exodus attempting to call their connections at Evo to no avail. But the footage... was rather conclusive.

A dark grey blur emerged from the street after tossing a car through the concrete wall. Taking every bullet the Vory shot at them like it was a mere suggestion of harm. Dismembering some, striking others, moving and killing faster than the metahuman eye could track. After playing with and snapping the neck of the last Vory. The figure simply stared at the commlink and smiled. The feed going silent for half an hour before the dead bodies started to move. Indicating the presence of the Shedim were drawn in due to the force of the slaughter.

Aftermath

Perdix in the aftermath looked into the figure they saw. That being one Alexander Abdulov. A member of the White Vory who joined when they were 16. Becoming a terrifying force to even nations, an assassin for the White Vory second to very few. Their most notable kill being the head of security for the Russian president. Including the few security members said head of security had surrounding them. He has trained a multitude of assassins for the White Vory since. Whether it be enemy gangers, former soldiers, or even children. Most not surviving his grueling training, and the few that survive... becoming among the most terrifying assassins the underworld of the sixth world has to offer.

Tsarina had to be consoled as his face flooded her field of view. Memories upon memories of this figure rushing back into her mind. Yet thanks to Exodus' help, she was able to control her emotions. Mentally preparing herself for the fight ahead "2864" she told herself. "2864."
