Summary

A guy who loves tacos wants to evict a local gang. He's paying a lot of money for runners to do so - and boy do they deliver.

Background

MCT's plant in Kingsgate has a lot going on behind the scenes - and Taco Johnson wants to cover that all up. One part of that plan is clearing out a gang that's outlived its usefulness.

The Meet

At La Taqueria Azteca, a Johnson meets a group of runners with a simple request. "Get this gang off this property. I don't care how you do it." The runners called were the right choice for the job - the main question asked was simply "how much is it worth to you?"

The Plan

The team does a solid chunk of research - backed by Insight's decking skills, the team's knowledge of gang turf, and an extremely helpful note from Agamemnon. They learn the following:

1The gang lives in a shopping mall turned crime hive on the border between the Kanaga-gumi and the Black Chrysantheum Triad, meaning neither can move in to clear it. They sell drugs through there to the poorer people of Tacoma. Primarily, they push Cram, Betameth, and Novacoke. Weaker stuff and small arms are also sold. There's a lot of homeless people living here, and a lot of gangs that pop up because of it. Murders are common.

There have been multiple officers lost trying to enter to investigate crimes. The most recent death reported was Taylor Bellenoit, a female Knight Errant detective. Their was streamed to a few public media sites, though under different names and not associated to the news channels.

The lucky tip from Agamemnon though is the name of an accomplice of Chef - a man name Stevie Strikes, whose name has been associated with the Finnigan syndicate in the past. Saint fumes at the knowledge - and is eager to get another little chunk of vengeance upon them.

With information on the gang's activities, their likely supplier, and a time when they'll be meeting him, they're ready to go on site and come up with a plan to assassinate the enemy.

The Run

On-site work starts with Oberon scouting around - listening out for any signs of activity from the gang.

As he investigates, he's called out to by a ganger in a store, pushing drugs. After asking for something extra (and mentioning a couple hundred nuyen), the Nocturna gets a nod and an invitation to come in the back so he can get it. The warning from Insight comes a bit late - he's jumped by multiple gangers, who stick him up - and charge triple price for the drugs he's bought. Fuming, he leaves - going to find a place to open his ears. Luckily, his patience is rewarded - quickly, he learns that a supply run is due to show up soon.

The runners set up stakeout positions, Zenith taking a place above to shoot down on their target when he meets the Finns, Saint settling in to 'provide backup' - all while she fights the urge to start cutting the Finns down.

When the time comes, Zenith's gunshot is unerring - down goes their target. Moments later, he runs interference to prevent Saint from rushing the Finns, and the team makes good on a quick escape.

Aftermath

Down goes another ganger, vengeance achieved. The Knight Errant officers' captain, having learned what they were up to, meets the runners himself - and ensures they're paid fairly, smiling as he notes, "I like it when criminals kill criminals. Good work."

And while the team might not be happy with that, the pay ought to make up for it.
