Background
Born in Seattle, Brent Mulligan was born in 2038. His life was rather simple, living with two SINners in a rather nice home in the nice parts of Belleuve, taking interest in the sciences during his free time. That is, it was simple, before he was Awakened.
When his studies delved into the magical at just the age of 13, his live delved into despair as his father was arrested for aggravated assault, and mother was found one too many times with novacoke remnants and a runny nose. As he was only a kid, he was taken into Child Protective Services, more of a prison to his youthful obsession than a far better alternative to being on the streets, at least in his teenage eyes.
However, he was never to be truly held down, managing to escape, spending his teenage years and 20s as a homeless mage, just wandering the streets of Seattle, cursing his own desire to learn in an irrational attempt to explain why his life turned out like this. Once he hit 32, he found himself a fixer, someone who he had already met from when he managed to scrounge up money and eat out, a small orc by the name of Casey Micheal. One who came to be called Shrimp in his eyes as business took over. It was purely business all the way through, and for Brent, that ment getting a whole new fake life, starting with a name. Ashford, he coined, before being hooked up with a plethora of fake licenses and a fake SIN; the necessities of an aspiring runner, before he got to work with his spells.
Having never used said spells in a practical scenario before, his first few runs were rough, to say the least. If no one ended up dead it was a miracle, and the fact Ashford even got to work under him more than once was a twist of fate no one could've even imagined. I suppose the reason he wasn't quickly tossed aside was his rather quick initial growth, going from a liability to a magical toolkit that wasn't exactly unwelcomed within the span of a month: a leap in difference more monumentous than the first step on the moon.
Eventually, over 14 years, hiring a lawyer he'd get to know quite well in Anderson Silvers, he'd get a few johnsons singing his praises, and even old Shrimp would start to see his talents, as they sent for Ashford's admittance to the Haven.
