Summary
Runners are called on to kick in the door on a Black Chrysanthemum drug operation by one Dora Kicker. Breach and entry follows, with multiple doors kicked baby.
Background
Knight Errant needs to run an op in Fairmont, and they need heat off of them. Informants have been able to point them towards a Black Chrysanthemum drug op in the area which can serve as cover for their other operations. That's where the runner team comes in - they take on the risk of the Triad retaliating, KE can claim that they rolled in after a drug-fueled shootout and claim a public win, and their covert ops in the area have a nice cover drawing eyes away.
The Meet
Dora Kicker awaits the runners in a Chinese tea shop. In they come - the dangerous bug-shaped summoner (who is not an insect shaman), the strict rabbitwoman with years of experience, three anthrodrones and their AR master Iron, and last to arrive - the bull in the China shop himself.
The runners are given a rundown of what they'll be doing and who they're up against. After some negotiations, mostly focused around the risk the runners take if the Triad learns their identities, the runners agree - and are provided floor plans. An assurance is also made that the police will be "too busy" to respond in a timely manner as long as the team doesn't force them to call in the SWAT teams.
Plan in hand, the team rolls out to the location.
The Plan
The team gathers some data before kicking the door in.
Iron knows that barred windows with drawn blinds mean that blindfiring inside is irresponsible. Crime dens are often lacking cameras inside, which means doing so could result in civilian damage.Standard breach and clear from room to room may be best. Drug dens often have unpredictable and varied individuals, controlling the back of the breaching squad can be important. The building is brick - sturdy but brittle. Explosives risk collapsing the entire thing, especially for an aging structure like this one.
Brazen Bull is able to recognize the target as Hong Tran. He's been seen at some of the more underground fight pits the bull fights in, usually peddling drugs. He's known for having wired up personal guards - twitchy, like they're badly installed. He's also often seen with a friend named Mickey Starstruck. After calling Doctor Wallace, he learns that any 'ware the Triads are using is likely from their own doctors - and likely sourced used from unscrupulous places.
Phototaxis and Iron form a plan together - breach a wall into one of the larger rooms that they suspect is most likely to contain the main manager, then breach and clear from there with shock and awe tactics. No witnesses are permitted, as the Black Chrysanthemum would pursue them otherwise.
The Run
The breaching charge goes off, and a flashbang is launched in by Phototaxis from the truck, her spirit placed at the backdoor to stop stray gangers from escaping.
The team storms in, Iron's drones barraging the first foes they see - gangers on a couch, lounging around. Kommandant barks an order to a group in the hall to sprint to her, while the Brazen Bull charges into combat and starts firing a terrifyingly loud machine gun. Phototaxis hands out orders, calling out incoming enemies and tagging foes wherever they exist for the ease of the team. The first grunts are toast in seconds.
While the drones secure the northern hallway, Kommandant and the Brazen Bull clear the pair of rooms they were in. As the drones push forward, Hong Tran charges from out of the closet - sprinting past Kommandant to challenge the bull head on in melee combat. It does not go well for him.
Meanwhile, Kommandant identifies a mage with a pair of fire spirits. A snapped order forces him to dismiss the spirits, who flee the scene to the astral to avoid being disrupted. Iron's drones clear a group of fighting and fleeing gangers as the Brazen Bull puts down the main target.
The last man standing is one of Tran's guards. The drones fusillade fire through the wall, putting him on the backfoot perfectly for Kommandant to cut him down in a burst of automatic fire.
Aftermath
Drug op successfully broken up, the runners flee the scene, making off with some of the novacoke that the Triad was distributing here.
Elsewhere in Fairmont, Kicker's team accomplishes their own objective...
