Background

Reiko was born onto the streets of Neo-Tokyo. After a while she was picked up by the local Yakuza group and given food and shelter in exchange for being a test subject for some new black market bioware they had acquired. Although not fully successful, no negative side effects came up and so the Yakuza kept her and trained her up to be a sniper. Toki was another one of their test subjects, but nothing worked at all for her. Reiko seemed to like her though, so the Yakuza kept her around too. They made Reiko into a good sniper, and she became even better after awakening as an adept, but she began to resent them for keeping her and Toki stuck there, and making her work for nothing but food and shelter. So one night they took some money, slipped out and ran. Figuring they wouldn’t be very safe in Japan, they headed to the airport, caught a plane to Seattle and left the Yakuza behind. They’re almost certainly looking for her and Toki now, but at least they’ve got some temporary safety in the Haven.
