Summary

The Street Pirates want to throw a party to celebrate their Kaptain's upcoming recovery, but he's been banned from one of his favorite bars. Cabin Boy fails to convince the bar to let him make a reservation, so he hires runners to solve that problem. Solving things mostly peacefully by collecting some debts accrued in the bar's underground gambling den, Ducky and Muelsyse ensure KAPTAIN KILLDOZER's party can move forward and save Cabin Boy from looking like a fuckup to the rest of his crew.

Background

Prior to the events of Clever run title about cars, KAPTAIN KILLDOZER was hospitalized due to his vehicle being blown up by a Nova Rich ganger before a street race. He's expected to be released soon, and his crew wants to throw him a party to celebrate. Cabin Boy was told to make reservations at The Black Spot, one of the Kaptain's favorite bars, but was denied and laughed at over the comms because the Kaptain was banned from the place after shooting the head bartender's brother in law over thinking the guy was cheating at cards. He really doesn't want to disappoint the rest of the crew, so Cabin Boy turns to the shadows to hopefully find someone more persuasive than he is...

The Meet

Ducky and Muelsyse get told by their respective fixers to meet at a low-rent marina Downtown and meet up with Cabin Boy, a distraught young man who's in the middle of cleaning one of the Street Pirate's Elysium Corsair boats. Ducky startles the young man, and he explains the situation. The runners are unhappy with his initial offer of 2,000¥, and although it pains him greatly and would mean he'd need to sell some personal belongings Ducky does manage to talk him up to a 6,000¥ payday.

He sends over some basic info about the bar, including the fact that it's owned by the First Nation gang, and Ducky calls up some of her sailor buddies to help Cabin Boy finish his chores. Muelsyse doesn't have a vehicle and smells like a Halloweener trap house, so Ducky makes her jump in the ocean before she'll let her ride in her car.

The Plan

The runners head to the Everett docks and find the bar, and head on in to talk to the bartender Charles. Muelsyse orders a fireball and milk, gets told they don't have milk, and then gets sick off a glass full of cinnamon whisky and ice. Ducky explains what they're here for, and Charles reluctantly agrees to forgive the Kaptain's transgressions if the runners can collect some gambling debts that he hasn't had time to follow up on. The team are given two targets: a used car salesman named Paolo Rothstein and a college girl named Bashira Sarraf. With a bit more negotiating, Charles is convinced to give the team 10% of the take in exchange for doing this work for him.

The Run

Rothstein works at a dealership in Everett, so the team hits him first. Muelsyse summons a spirit to act as backup, and Ducky gains his trust by pretending to be interested in purchasing a vehicle. While she has him trapped in a vehicle during a test drive, Ducky signals the mage to tell the spirit to materialize and presses the salesman to pay up. He tries to weasel his way out of it with that greasy car dealer charm, but is no match for Ducky's superior facing skills and gives up a credstick hidden in a tusk compartment.

With that secured, the team does some Matrix searching of Bashira and finds out that she's a regular at Syberspace, a Downtown night club/Matrix cafe. They wait until the middle of the night to be sure she's mid-party, and head to the club. Muelsyse recognizes the bouncer as someone who owns her Weener boss money, and is able to pressure him into letting them skip the line. They spot Bashira dancing with another woman in the club rather intimately, and Muelsyse is able to clock that the second girl is Emerged. When the two girls sneak off to rent a private room in the Matrix cafe portion of the establishment, a spirit is told to open the door from the inside while they're in the middle of "enjoying each other's company". The girls panic, but the Halloweener intimidates them into keeping quiet and coughing up the nuyen. There's much panicked chatter in Arabic between the women, with some bits in English about an ex-boyfriend with a gambling problem, but the runners get the nuyen and even a little extra as they take advantage of Bashira's panicked state.

With that settled, they return to the Black Spot to give Charles the credsticks and go to look for Cabin Boy to report that the job is done. He's been dragged out drinking by Ducky's pirate buddies and has gotten absolutely drekfaced drunk. He's falling over himself trying to thank them from doing the job, and one of Ducky's friends toss her a credstick that they pickpocketed off of Cabin Boy. He explains that he'll need to sell his car to get them the rest, but promises he's good for it.

Aftermath

Cabin Boy gets treatment for alcohol poisoning and wires the rest of the nuyen to the runners fixers once he sells some of his personal assets. KAPTAIN KILLDOZER is on the road to recovery and has a surprise party coming up. Charles dreads seeing the Street Pirates again but a deal is a deal.
