Summary

A Johnson desires a set of jewels which are on display during an expo. The team gets it in the cleanest and flashiest way possible.

Background

An expo for historical artifacts come to town - an exhibition for the rich and powerful of the city, and a place for those with a historical bent to peruse the past for some hints of meaning. Naturally, this draws in runners like flies.

The team is called by various contacts. Ka$hious gets a ring from a lawyer friend, with a hint on someone who can clear her Criminal SIN if she does some work for them. Spriggan gets a call from Pramanix - who's more than eager to share information about the expo that just left Vancouver. And Red Ribbon gets a ring from a fixer fox who is more than happy to play coy about what she should expect.

The Meet

Johnson first meets the runners in a park nearby the convention center downtown. Quickly, the team spots out that a flyspy is watching their every move - and they decide to drag the incompetent onto neutral ground inside a tea shop nearby.

Once there, Johnson details the jewels he's after, coming off as completely incompetent - at least until Ribbon notices him lying about his comm. Quickly enough, he's changed his tune and becomes both competent and helpful, as the team spotted that his comm had been hacked. A promise of payment, and they're off to the races.

The Plan

After a great deal of Matrix legwork by Red Ribbon, the whole team calls on their connections to ensure they have a full picture of the enemies they're likely to face. The plan the runners settle on is to have Ka$hious attend the event, get on good terms with the staff, then stash a uniform for Spriggan to get into while Ribbon provides drone overwatch.

The Run

On the first day, Ribbon notices - hey, there's something with an attack and sleaze stat watching. Quickly, Ribbon determines that a technomancer has taken an interest in the giant who's perusing the exhibits. After butting heads for a moment, she spots out - aha, that's the one there, in the hoodie.

Ka$hious takes matters into her own hands. A giant hand comes down and clamps on the purple hoodie's shoulder. She towers over the short human, and simply demands that he come with her for a chat. Without batting an eye, the techno refuses. A vicious squeeze, and she leaves behind a stealth tag in the folds of the hoodie. It leads the team straight back to the hotel the enemy OpFor is staying in - and they come up with the plan of dealing with the rival runners in the most violent way possible. Calls are made to Bill O'tuk and an O'Malley affiliated mechanic. While Ka$hious distracts the enemy team by boldly declaring that she represents Evo, the enemy's vehicle gets tampered with. Convincing them to flee, the face orders them into their van.

The team dives for cover, and then the entire enemy team is blown sky high when the car bomb goes off, a smouldering crater left of the enemy runner team.

From there, things are smooth sailing. On day 3 of the expo, Ka$h plants a uniform for Spriggan to use that night. Hours later, Spriggan enters late at night, collecting the uniform to blend in. While she calls on a decker from her O'Malley team to provide support, in the end - her teammate fails, and the alarms blare.

Spriggan sprints for freedom, but her legs can carry her only so fast. A pair of guards stand between her and freedom, but she doesn't even slow down. The guards loose automatic fire, but it can't catch Spriggan. A dodge left, a dodge right, a dodge around the corner and she's gone - out a window, diving down the side of a building, the climbing spikes in the cyberlegs' soles carrying the runner to the earth. From there, it's a run to Red Ribbon's getaway car - and the team is off clean.

Aftermath

Johnson, pleased with the result, ensures the team that they'll be paid as promised, with Ka$h receiving the "help" with her "legal troubles" that she'd needed for so long.

Game Quotes

Player After Action Reports (AARs)

Spriggan

Ranni is a good kid. Down on his luck, and that's got him where he is now. Between you and I, the Fins were wrong for kinkin' up Ranni. Nothing he did deserves that. I'll prove his worth to them and then I'll get it removed and let him go. He proved his worth tonight, even if he did make a mistake. Otherwise, what an explosively fun run! What a killer jump! Had a blast.

Red Ribbon

That was heart-pounding, and I wasn't even on-site half the time. It's always damn satisfying to watch legwork pay off, and even if there were a couple of bumps here and there, the skills of the team were more than enough to smooth them right over. I even think I might have made a good impression on Spriggan!

Ka$hious MONEY Villionaire

I'm gonna say it once, and only once. I do not appreciate people who fuck with my shit. Let what happened to goon squad over there stand as a message to those who don't want to talk things out.
