Summary
Elisabeth Babbage wants to slow down Lt. Cmdr.Dylan Hopkins' career by having him publicly disgraced at an after-party of a Wagner concert. She hires three runners, who take care of the issue to her fullest satisfaction.
Background
Lt. Cmdr. Dylan Hopkins is a pain in Elisabeth's side. She's decided to pain him in return. Two rules: "Make it hurt & make sure I don't get exposed."
The Meet
Elisabeth Babbage arranges a meeting with Glich, Ducky, and Gulliver at an off-base bar in Fort Lewis and informs them that she wants Dylan Hopkins humiliated publically. By Elisabeth's posure and the way she talks, Ducky quickly puts two and two together and understands that this is about preventing Dylan from further promotions within the Navy, and that Elisabeth and Dylan are adversaries within the same organization.
The runners are offered 16 000 Nuyen or payment in kind in the form of military hardware. They also manage to negotiate additional 1 000 Nuyen paid up-front to cover costs and as a sweetener. They accept the deal and are handed information about time & place of the venue as well as the personel-file of Dylan.
The Plan
Get access to the venue, a Hotel in Tacoma, possibly by taking on work at the hotel or getting Brodie J to get the runners on the guest-list. Get Dylan drunk and drugged at the after-party of the concert. Make him look bad and hope that people notice.
The Run
Various matrix searches do not revieal much information. However, the runners find out that the hotel has one open position as porter. That's not good enough, so Gulliver calls Brodie J. who is not of much help: "That's a booring event for booring people. I don't have booring friends. So sorry, I can't get you on the guest list. I can lend you a tuxedo thoug." So, that was nice. Gulliver tries to get on the guest-list through Alessa P. She also shrugs.
Finally, Glitch gets three tickets for the after-party through Da-xia.
Ducky organizes a wonderful dress through Mel.
With three tickets in their hands and beautiful gowns on their bodies, the runners disguise and then go to the concert. Wonderful classical music by Wagner and then finally the after party. Gulliver approaches Dylan and they start talking. Glitch overviews the crowd, analyses its dynamics and starts probing how to "work the crowd". Ducky prepares the drugs on her cyber hands before she joins the conversation between Gulliver and Dylan. As she's introdced, she offers Dylan a hand-shake and he takes the bait and gets drugged upon contact. The drink a few drinks and continue to talk. As the drug effects eventually kick-in, the runners keep making sure that Dylans glass gets immediate re-fills and get people in the surrounding to watch him spitefully. As Dylan's composure is non-existant, they make him spill a colorful cocktail all over himself.
Dylan is a terrible site to see and will definitely be the talk of tomorrow. But, the runners have more in store. The runners ralley the crowd to be wallow in the rudimentary pleasure of watching someone take a social deep dive in real-time and the crowd is now truly spiteful. That's when it's time for the grand finale: Ducky touches a person who walks "too close" to Dylan in a way to make it seem like it was Dylan who did it. The person turns around and slaps him. He falls over and the "victim" shares its innosence and dtails of Dylans inappropriate conduct with whomever is willing to listen. Glitch encourages the spreading of the story and keeps repeating it throughout the evening.
As Dylan gets escorted out of the venue, Glitch spikes his commlink and adds compromising photos and spread them to the contact-list. Gulliver sprays fart-spray on Dylan, hauls a cab and bribes the driver 900 Nuyen to take Dylan to the main entrance of Fort Lewis and tell them to take care of their nuisance and not have their soldiers destroy peace of the Metroplex. "You should turn this check-point around and check who's leaving base instead of who's trying to enter!".
Aftermath
Elisabeth is thrilled with the result. Dylan's social reputation is ruined. The runners get big thanks and their well-earned rewards.
