Summary

Lab experiment, former French Foreign Legionnaire, holder of regret and ego in equal measure.

A spotter for all those sniper runners - the devil on your shoulder, guiding your aim. Support mage.

Goals

• Support Angel no matter what.
• Do whatever it takes to feel less guilty about what happened back then.
• Gain power, whatever that takes.

Background (Resubmitted)

Grown in a batch with several other French maidens, Devil (chosen name Claire LeNoir) was built to be a pretty soldier for Ares' propaganda machine at the Ares Global Media headquarters in Paris. The program was biologically a success - pain editor software and the ability to control pheromones made for a potent combo, creating a group of potential starlets. The problem, of course, with creating a group of elves designed to be capable of emotional manipulation who don't feel pain is that the majority of the batch turned sociopathic to one degree or another. Their handlers were unwilling to combat this - viewing the "competitive" environment as a good thing for culling weaker individuals from the pack.

Bit by bit, she and the rest were trained as propaganda soldiers. Squad leaders, sergeants, spotters - the sorts of team spots that you'd expect confident speakers to best fit in. After an initial round of training within Ares' own forces, Devil was lent out as a "volunteer" to another army to further her training. And the French Foreign Legion is always happy to take volunteers. In its service, she worked alongside an interesting young woman - serving as her spotter, as a spellslinger, and as a serjeant.

The pair were part of an operation which went wrong. While Angel did what she does best, Devil argued with superiors - whose failure to comprehend the situation on the ground resulted in a great deal of unnecessary death. What broke her away from the argument - and back to the demands of the present moment - was the screaming of her partner.

Horrific.

As the situation in France began to devolve, Devil was pulled from the FFL back into Ares service. Eventually, she was pulled from even that - flown out of the country to a place where she could develop her critical thinking skills in a new way. Seattle. A place far off from the consequences of her actions, someplace she could recover from the shocks she'd dealt with. Someplace she doesn't have as many contacts as back in France, the better to keep her from slipping the leash.

Narrative Significant Qualities

Positive

• An Expensive Experiment (Prototype Transhuman, Restricted Gear) - Devil was grown to be the perfect propaganda soldier. This follows her to this day - and she knows her siblings are out there somewhere, too. It's not a comforting thought.

Negative

• France Hater (Flashbacks I, Big Regret, Emotional Attachment, Prejudiced) - She'll never forgive the organization - or the country - that ordered her to do those things. They'll follow her for the rest of her life. She can't even sleep without her rifle in her arms. God forbid anyone finds out.
• SINner (Corporate, Ares) - She's a dog of the state, and Ares holds her leash. Sitting in a city where their control is so strong, there's little hope she'll find freedom.
