Summary
The New Century Party’s youth wing is hard at work, flying in sheltered university students into the Seattle Metroplex to aid in the social mission of the party (while giving the local gubernatorial candidate a boost!) Problem is, they want to convince the SINless to SIN…in the Redmond Barrens.
Background
Hassan Bahreini, the NCP Federal Youth Chair, has been stuck in the Seattle Metroplex with a big problem: the Youth Committee keeps sending well-meaning idealists to the Seattle Metroplex with big dreams and no survival instincts. He’s forced to shake his operational budget down to the last nuyen coming up with schemes to keep his do-gooder NCP volunteers alive and to do so, he’s got to lean into the shadow community for help. The NCP can’t afford a major embarrassment at this stage of the campaign and, indeed, really needs the electoral boost of a social justice victory!
The Meet
The team has been invited to the NCP Redmond Campaign office in Touristville. The place is abuzz with social assistance seekers, but a staffer brings everyone into a backroom to wait for Mr. Johnson. After introductions and some socializing, Mr. Johnson comes in. He explains the situation: he has an (armored) bus full of NCP volunteers who are dying (pleasegodno) to enter the Barrens and convince the SINless to register. Hassan is not very familiar with the city but knows that the group's de facto leader, Jacob, wants to go into very dangerous territory. After negotiating over pay, Hassan tells the team that he needs them to find the least dangerous but still dangerous neighborhood in the Redmond Barrens to take the volunteers, and to come up with a plan on how to keep them safe.
Complications? Only one: a rival political campaign has discovered what Hassan is up to and has convinced the Halloweeners, somehow, to come hunt down and kill some “easy-pickings”.
The Plan
The team researches to determine which neighborhood in Redmond might be the least-worst option. Ryuuji calls his clan for a favor, gaining a chip in order for a small loan of some Yakuza soldiers to mill about at a predetermined location to smoke cigarettes and be a visual deterrent for any possible street violence.
The team decides on Avondale, partly because of proximity, and partly because recently they had a major gang under the Cutters direction wiped out. The neighborhood is as safe as it has been in some time. The team decides to find a series of suburban homes on cul de sacs, split the student volunteers into four groups, and send one team member with each group to each cul de sac (with the Yakuza soldiers hanging around at the entrance to each cul de sac.) That way the students would be relatively protected…or so they hoped.
The Run
Everything runs pretty much like clockwork. Calling in the Yakuza to form an intimidating presence was a very clever move on the team’s part, keeping away local ruffians, and allowing the volunteer teams time to move through the cul de sacs. The volunteer teams are aided in their door-to-door negotiations by the team (except Timber, who took extra precautions to watch for trouble out on the adjoining road…which ended up being very useful.) The students end up doing a remarkable job at convincing the SINless to register for SINS!
Timber notices that a particular Bulldog van has driven past the squatter cul de sacs repeatedly and, upon moving closer, notices that there are flecks of orange paint on their skin. Informing the team via DNI, they move to intercept the vehicle. Ryuuji steps out in front of the van to stop it, Timber readied an arrow, Pasiphae moved in to cover the front of the vehicle. Ryuuji moved to the window and noticed that the gangers inside had K-10 in their possession. Distracted by the archer and the glowering Minotaur and the cool-as-a-cucumber man at their door, they didn’t notice Paz sneaking off behind the vehicle.
Ryuuji noticed from his vantage point that there was a strike team of gangers hiding in the back of the van. Relaying the information, Paz fire in a flash-bang grenade through a back window and, well, the salsa…she was chunky. The three gangers in the front were smashed against their dashboards, knocked out, while the gangers in the back were explode-ed-ed. Ryuuji recovered the K-10 from the vehicle to dispose of and the team were able to escort the students back to safety in Touristville!
Aftermath
Hassan was incredibly grateful! The team twisted his arm when they discovered that the volunteer leader, Jacob, was overjoyed at their success and wanted to plan another adventure asap. Knowing Hassan desperately wanted them not to, the team twisted his arm for a little more nuyen. In exchange they pressured Jacob to quit while he was ahead and forced him to convince the other 30 some odd students the same.
Ryuuji convinced Hassan that there were opportunities for the NCP to do outreach in other areas of the Seattle Metroplex with security arranged, under the table, with the Yoshinaga-Gumi. The Yoshinaga soldiers called in helped create an aura of calm and peace that allowed the mission to succeed. Thus laying the groundwork for future opportunities for Ryuuji and his clan, regardless of whoever wins the Metroplex Election.
Hassan gave everyone his number, in thanks.

Game Quotes
Player After Action Reports (AARs)
Timber: "An unexpectedly smooth first run with the Haven. I will admit to being a little worried when Paz showed up in her... very brightly-coloured outfit, but all of my team mates proved to be extremely effective. They even managed to keep that kid Jacob from getting himself into more danger. Hopefully that will give him enough time to realise that he can't do any good in the world if he dies."
P23: "A calm run with plenty of money and favour to be made. The kids handled themselves nicely, the rookies too. Great fucking eye on Timber, by the way. Glowing recommendation. Without him, we would've had to deal with K10 weeners. Much happier things went this way."
