Thomas Warloff Character2 |
Summary
Someone is asking for a copy of a keycard. They can't be contacted via commlink. They ask runners to get something for them and bring it back, a bargain, a deal. And so, the runners agree and get the job done. Successfully, they're able to return to the Johnson and hand over an electronic keycard to access something. Something, something... what is the something? Well, they don't ask questions and they get paid.
Background
S3I is having some growing pains like any upscaling enterprise, and there are malefactors who would seek to harm them. Perhaps it's Pixy Squad, perhaps its the Compulsory Execution unit? Or even N-51? Well, perhaps it's something else. Either way, today, we see those who would harm S3I in full form; hiring runners to nab a keycard from someone within S3I for nefarious deeds.
The Meet
The runners both met up with the J who seemed to look and smell off. Something about their eyes was just... not right. And in the moments of their conversation, the J offered a gig but for no money. They runners almost walked before the J offered them UCAS dollars after the run. They reluctantly agreed, and asked for details. The J wanted a keycard off of a one "Thomas Warloff" and spoke nothing more. With little to go on, the runners agreed to the bargain and left.
The Plan
The team decided to do legwork in the form of Throwback doing matrix searches, and Hotdog doing social influencing. An initial search revealed much about Thomas, including where he likes to frequent; again, the runners are forwarded to the Helldiver. And so, the team heads over to figure things out.
The Run
Once inside the bar, Hotdog started to talk with the people working the bar. Initial conversations allowed her to nab info that the barkeep would point out Thomas when they get here. Meanwhile, Throwback checked out the net and found a potent decker working for the bar. It turns out the the big matrix presence was a fixer there to help runners, and offered assistance as she could, as needed.
But when Thomas made it to the bar. the barkeep pointed him out and Hotdog began to work. They started to chat up Thomas and even started flirting. This was the perfect cover for Throwback to start hacking Thomaas' commlink. Working the data and trails, throwback hit multiple roadblocks but was able to eventually get in, only to realize the data wasn't here.
Hotdog continued to flirt and got Thomas to reveal the fact that he had a work commlink. Taking it out of his faraday pocket, the commlink was turned on and allowed THrowback to hack it, stealing the data. Bugging out immediately and leaving HotDog without giving them a lift, Hotdog continued to flirt up Thomas in order to get a lift. Stating that his intentions were purely platonic, Thomas agreed to watch movies and go on a friend-date with Hotdog.
Aftermath
Returning to the J, the duo were rewarded with a briefcase that contained some nuyen for their troubles, and a paperback copy of the novel Watership Down, including some writing inside that seems intricately nonsense. No questions are asked, and the duo of the odd, dead eyed J and her red haired compatriot are left to their own devices.

Hotdog
miss j was one weird slitch, n idk wut kinda drekhead thinks she can get a primo operator like the one and only hotdog without coughin up some nooj, but my superior bizniz skills got her to find the funds. tommy boi was a e-z mark, poor guy smelled real desperate for some company. real gentleman, gave me a ride n everythin once the nova crashed. idk what this key we snagged was about, but throwback seemed to do a real good job at the nerd drek. the j also have us some weird fraggin book about rabbits or somethin', throwback's chummer said there was some kinda secret code in the back of it, no idea what the deal with that was. weird job, but whatevs, got the big money, gonna throw one hell of a party at the lantern!
Throwback "Pretty simple gig for pretty simple pay. I guess I can't complain much, works been pretty light lately so its not just get out there again. I continue to improve in my matrix skills but that was a pretty beefy couple of targets, I've got more to go before I'm confident in my abilities still."
