Summary
The runners trio find a suspicious job gig. Everything seems fine, save for the poetry, yet when they get to the twins Quanxi, they somehow already know what the gig is. Something immediately seems off, but the runners take the gig. Things start not adding up, but after they complete their task of hunting the mad mage Ho'olheyak, they return to find one half of the Quanxi dissapeared. Investigation leads to True Sulla and Rehr.
Background
The phonk-loving, head-banging, club-going twins of Syaoran and Nilou make up both halves of Quanxi. Unfortunately, they've been on the hunt from from the Triads of Seattle, as they escaped recently thanks to the intervention of some runners previously. Now, they find themselves at the end of a bargain, a potential deal that would free them from their worries. Come on, take it. Make the deal.
The Meet
The runners meet Quanxi at their apartment. The twins were perhaps perplexed at the runners showing up, but they arived none the less. And so, the twins figured the reason for their arrival was the removal of Ho'olheyak. As such, they described what info they could about the mad necromancer's compatriots. L'Frith, Pashtarott, and Ho'olheyak were a trio of death and destruction, and between their prowess in combat and guile, they succesfully snuck under the radar for many months and days. Now, however, Quanxi mysteriously had the data to find them, and so they sent the runners to end Ho'olheyak's life. That was until, the runners saw a fly-spy on the window. A quick check showed a compatiot of True Sulla skulking about. Quanxi - Syaoran - told the runners it was okay, and that they could go.
The Plan
The runners sought to execute Ho'olheyak at her apartment, and so they buzzed over immediately. NSH and Red Ribbon would use drones and firepower to investigate or back up Hunter.
The Run
Upon heading to the apartments, some of the scenery started to tall into place, and both Ribbon and NSH realized they had both been here before, multiple times. Ho'olheyak was under their noses the whole time. Yet, this stopped them not from continuing their investigations. Ribbon Found and warned some of the neighboors about an impending shootout.
That being said, when the team went to investigate the rooms where the targets would be located, they were suspiciously gone. Trying to find out more, Ribbon investigated Ho'olheyak's apartment but was met with an explosive surprise, a trap left behind for snooping guests. Setting off the grenade, the drone Ribbon piloted ducked for cover, avoiding the blast, but it charred the apartment.
In the aftermath, they found some documents that sounded like it might lead to the Helldiver bar, and so the team went to check it out. At the helldiver, they did find the targets inside, but the bar was packed to the brim with Finnigans. Seeing that there was opportunity for more scouting, Ribbon made her way in to scout around. Seeing that the Ho'olheyak team was begging for some new work and money from someone as 'their job would finish itself later today'. As such, NSH tried to reach out to the person the targets were talking to in order to coax them outside.
Willingly sending the targets away, the decker inside was happy to get the creeps away. Once outside however, they were in for a surprise. A bloody ambush and battle ensued. Between Ho'olheyaks summons, L'Friths leadership, their abject guard spellcasters, and the ally spirit form of PVHSTAROTT, the runners found themselves in a deadly battle that ended brutally in the murder of all the targets.
However, at the end of the battle, L'friths ally spirit, Iefaila, sat looming over his master's corpse...
The dog sits over their mentors corpse. They let out a pained and long howl. Through the cockpit of your flying castle, through the heat of battle, through the hotsim of your drone. The howl is one of sorrow, for their mentor and friend of many years sits before them unmoving. Perhaps it is the scent, perhaps it is the signature through the footsteps they left behind. You can tell, this now free spirit is heartbroken from their loss. He did not understand if they were a villain or not. There was no morality in their actions. There was only the bond of someone who cherished and loved their ally with all their heart.
The dog followed the runners, but was told to leave by Hunter.
Aftermath
Nilou is taken to work with True Sulla for some nefarious deed. Unsure of the future, many are left with a sour taste in their mouth. Yet, the three of them offer their services to take care of Quanxi in the future.
Post Script Scene
After the run had concluded in proper, Red Ribbon went home to brood on her thoughts. Falling deeper into paranoia and insomnia, she started to hallucinate things and people she had witnessed before. Grappling with her thoughts, Ribbon decided to do her best to sleep. Feeling the weight of the world and the dog-breath like scent of the - - dog?
She looked up to see the Free-spirit of Iefaila sitting on them, licking their face. Iefaila suggested that, Red Ribbon needed the help. Even if the machine had killed his master, Iefaila would help them out, as it seemed like both of them were mourning. The two rested together, peacefully.
