Overview

Madame Carmine is the (seemingly) Amazônian owner and proprietor of The Embrace, which opened its doors in the winter of 2083. The Embrace is a high-class brothel in the Bellevue District of the Seattle Metroplex. It does not appear to be in direct competition with The Butterfly Effect, another sex-selling establishment in Bellevue, as they both cater to different social classes of clientele.


Madame Carmine and The Embrace are fiercely independent, seemingly under no control or protection of any criminal syndicate or gang. Rumors claim that Madame Carmine has extraordinary wealth, is a frighteningly powerful magician, or perhaps has powerful political thralls under her emaculately manicured thumbs. The truth behind The Embrace's independence remains a mystery, one element of the great and carefully cultivated aura of mystery that Madame Carmine fully embraces.


But there are two things about Madame Carmine that those in the shadowy-know can tell you.


First: if you give respect, you receive respect. She is silent and immovable when it comes to the regular clientele who treat her sex workers with dignity. But for those who do not, their secrets are available for the right price.


Second: no one has ever heard of a client hurting one of her sex workers. If it has ever happened, the perpetrators have never walked back through the blood red doors of The Embrace.

Aspect Description
Nocturnal Animal Madame Carmine is a busy woman and her work mostly begins once the sun has set. She can normally only be reached from 9:00 pm PT to 5:00 am PT. Add +5 to the threshold of her contact availability test if trying to contact her during daylight hours.
Predator's Predilection Only characters infected with HMHVV Strain I can raise Madame Carmine's Loyalty past 2. Increasing Loyalty on Madame Carmine costs twice as much as normal.
Us or Them Under no circumstances will Madame Carmine do anything they believe will harm vampires, banshees, or non-feral ghouls. If they learn that a character has dealt a significant blow to a majority vampire, banshee, or ghoul organization (gang, policlub, place of business, et cetera) decrease their Loyalty by 1. If Loyalty ever drops to 0, Madame Carmine considers the character as an enemy. If they find out that a character has assisted with the targeted killing of vampires, banshees, or non-feral ghouls for no reason other than their Infected nature the contact is immediately burned and becomes actively hostile.
Sex Work Is Work Madame Carmine has been doing this for a long, long time now. She knows the game and what makes The Embrace special. (+2 dice to all tests involving sex work)
It Never Gets Old Madame Carmine will not talk about how she became Infected with anyone not at Loyalty 6, but it is clear she has been around for a long, long time. There is great wisdom in her, and great melancholy. (+2 dice to all knowledge tests)
Sensitive Hearing The walls of The Embrace are not thin, but Madame Carmine ears are supernaturally sharp. She hears all the things the clients whisper in the dark when they feel most safe. (+2 dice to all tests involving The Embrace's clientele and their secrets)
Maria of the Trash Madame Carmine is a practitioner of Quimbanda, a dark tradition of anger and revenge. (+2 dice to all tests involving magic)
Tribunal of One Madame Carmine has grown in power as the years have gone by. Outside of Metrópole, there is no Initiate in the Mysteries of Quimbanda nearly so powerful. She is in a league of her own. (+2 dice to all tests involving sorcery and conjuration)
The Final Embrace Madame Carmine has a strong moral code. The halls of The Embrace, the threshold of each room…these are the red lines which must not be crossed. For those who deserve death, Madame Carmine is more than eager to take into her embrace. (+2 dice to all tests involving violence (kidnapping and murder) and to tests to destroy evidence of violence (forensic cleaning and astral cleansing))
Unaffiliated Because The Embrace is independent it appeals to corporate types who are looking for what they're looking for but desire no complications or syndicate entanglements. That brings many executives through the Red Doors. Many secrets. (+2 dice to all tests involving A-AAA corporations)
Safe Place To Lay Your Head The Embrace is heavily warded, quiet, and secure. Madame Carmine also runs smaller love motels on the streets of the Seattle Metroplex, Portland, and Los Angeles to provide a different atmosphere for interested clientele. (+2 dice to all tests involving safehouses on the west coast of North America.)
Bound By Better Blood Madame Carmine does not believe that her kind are necessarily better than metahumanity. She's seen enough monsters in her time to know that monstrosity is a universal blight on the sentient. But a "good" Infected, a "moral" Infected…these are her people. (+2 dice to all tests for or involving vampires, banshees, or non-feral ghouls)
Looking For Candles In The Darkness Madame Carmine yearns to do good. She yearns to help all those who are beaten and abused, the forgotten and the unfairly maligned. Give her a reason to care and she will reward you with her undivided attention. (+2 dice to all tests involving hooding or any situation involving punishing the truly wicked or aiding the truly oppressed)
